Really nice relaxing site

Salterford Dam CL
We had three nights here. The site is easy to access and in a beautiful quiet setting. The pitches are large and pretty level. There's a powerful shower (better than mine at home!) and nice toilet. Booking is easy and without fuss. Patchings Farm and Papplewick pumping station nearby are well worth visiting. Will definitely put on our list of favourite sites to come back to.

A Pleasing Short Stay

Salterford Dam CL
Having just returned from a short stay at Salterford Dam I have to say that I may have found my new favourite quiet and relaxing site. Despite being beside a minor road the occasional noise isn't obtrusive and just mingles into the sounds of the birds and nature. It's a pretty little site, fairly level grass pitches which had been recently mown, with all the facilities that you need. The showers & toilets are basic but more than adequate with a lovely powerful shower and contrary to previous reviews toilet rolls were provided, maybe I just got lucky. There is a walk around the lake onsite, and the chance for fishing although not being an angler I'm not 100% sure about this. I took a walk to find a pub only 35 minutes away along a quiet pleasant local footpath through fields and woodlands. I'm not sure where the negative reviews came from but they certainly didn't accurately describe the campsite that I stayed at, the bins, water and chemical waste were easily located and tidy. Payment is required upfront and contact with the owner was via messaging/emails with the gate code sent to you prior to arrival. Personally I like this hassle free type of arrival where you just turn up and pitch, yet I never felt I couldn't contact the owner if I had had any problems, maybe time will tell on that one as I certainly plan to return to this CL site in the future, hopefully for a much longer stay too.

Great relaxing site

Salterford Dam CL
We have just returned from this fantastic site, Lovely and peaceful with great surroundings. We picked this site to have a dropout weekend with a short drive to Sherwood forest which is only 9 miles away. Access to the site is easy with a gate set off the road which you need the code for which is given to you when you book and then you pick your own pitch. The negative things i found about this site is that the showers and toilets could do with a bit of TLC and would be nice if toilet paper was supplied so you don't have carry your own down all the time. Also would be nice if the owner(s) would pass by and introduced themselves while your there even if it's just to check everything is ok. Yes we would return to this site and recommend to anyone else.

Another great visit.

Salterford Dam CL
Another great 5 night stay at this wonderful site with frosty morning walks around the lakes which were covered in a thin layer of ice due to minus 5 overnight temperatures. Ducks skating along the top looking for the small areas of ice free waters, whilst we also had to source our water from an interior source until the sun had done its job and thawed the outside taps, but all part of the fun. The site looks totally different in the winter to that of summer but still a magical place whatever time of year. Yes the showers were a tad cold until the hot water came through, but that didn’t put us off and showered every morning. Although there had been a fair amount of rain the days before we arrived, the ground was firm and our 4.5 tonne motorhome had no issues on arrival or departure. We will back again soon.

Sadly gone down hill

Salterford Dam CL
Sadly had to change my review as at 8am on 12 october 2021 the day I was going to site till 19th nov bearing in mind have been on this site for a month during fireworks since 2017 and the owners are well aware I am disabled and use a particular pitch so I can hook up water as can no longer carry barrels after a stroke I was told I couldn't have my pitch as someone else on it even though been book since Nov 2020 when i was there last. They also said there was 2 water taps on the pitch which isn't true as went and checked and only vehicle on site was the large motorhome on the pitch i had reserved . I also booked my shopping to be delivered onto site and as dont driver anymore a tow man and 2 people to help me set up as well as care before I go are needed all of which needed paying the owner told me she could move the motorhome but the grass where they were as they had been in site since March was wrecked as I go with my dogs and usually mow the lawn as have a doggie garden a mud bath would wreck my caravan so couldn't accept this it saddens me they do not value regular customers and had been in contact since sept but ignored had I had notice something could have been sorted but 2 hours before I was due on site unacceptable this is the last text I received after 2 hours if texting and phone calls refused Honestly I have had hundreds of bookings this year, do you seriously expect me to remember everything. I don't live there but with my disabled father in Hereford. Once you said that you needed water then I said I could ask them to move or you could go next to them .. same area same side same grass same electric same water ( i didn't answer this text as had already re routed my tow man and arranged to collect shopping and was gutted and disapointed) this is my review prior to this incident after they had had an appalling review i go here every year since 2017 and always found.clean and well maintained.and management on the end of the phone if needed but always.leave you to enjoy your holiday and have a peaceful stay (this was believed to be true at the time of writing but found later things had changed considerably and I sadly can no longer can recommend this site
