Why stay here ...

Dukeries Retreat at Hill Crest Farm is on the edge of a quiet Nottinghamshire village but only a mile from the A1 and within 100 yards of a fine coaching inn, a bistro pub, a high quality Indian restaurant, a luxury spa and access to many local walks. The site is ideal for those wanting a relaxing break but with the option to be active. A former horse pasture of more than 6 acres adjacent to the main house and stables has been turned into a peaceful and picturesque site with toilet facilities (showers to follow soon!); laundry, including drying and hot water pots sink; extra fridge/freezer capacity if required; games room including bar football, darts, DVD and book library; dog-walking field and exclusive discounts to local pub, hotel and Indian restaurant. Also available are luxury firepits with swing-over cooking griddle to extend the time outdoors. Kiln-dried split logs and fire-starter packs are offered with these. Bring your own sausages!

For those wanting to stretch their legs a little, the Chesterfield canal offers lovely walks to the country town of Retford, Ranby village or beyond. Historic gravel quarrying has now left a legacy of beautiful fishing lakes and country parks all within a mile or so and the adjacent village of Blyth contains an Activities Centre with archery, crossbow, axe and knife throwing, shooting, zombie apocalypse training etc.

If you need accommodation for friends or relatives, the farmhouse offers 2 luxury en-suite king and super-king bedrooms which overlook the pasture. Other facilities such as bicycles, barbecue, games etc. are available upon request and Mick and Lyndis, the owners, will do their best to help.

Although the site is not overlooked and therefore quiet and private, we ask that noise is kept to a minimum and the playing of any music or loud activities at 'quiet' times does not become intrusive to others' enjoyment. Hill Crest Farm has been our home for well over twenty years and we hope you will enjoy being here as much as we do. We opened in Summer 2019 and plan many more improvements, including fully serviced pitches with hard-standing options, a new double-width entrance exclusively for CAMC guests and electric vehicle charging points.

Absolute Bliss. We Love This Place

Dukeries Retreat at Hill Crest Farm
We have just got home having spent the last 6 nights at Dukeries Retreat with our 3 dogs. The owners, Mick and Lyndis, go above and beyond the call of duty. They were absolute lifesavers when we had a fault with our heating system, lending us a heater, and use of their utility room for washing up, until we could get our fault sorted. Without this, our holiday would’ve been ruined. The site itself is picture perfect. Beautiful views of the local hills and forests, and incredibly peaceful. If you love the sound of birds in song, then this is the site for you. Some of the facilities have been upgraded since we last visited. There’s a new Elsan disposal point at the edge of the CL, and some new EHU points. If you’re ever heading to the South Yorkshire/East Midlands area, or just after a few days peace and tranquility then we would definitely recommend Dukeries Retreat.

A wonderful site — great birthday.

Dukeries Retreat at Hill Crest Farm
This is the second time we have been to this site and it will not be the last. Our son has a camper van and this site is convenient to both of us. We planned to have a birthday lunch (6 of us to align with government regulations) and I had purchased a gazebo. It was very windy and Lyndis suggested that we used the games room. She even supplied a table and table cloth for us. The local public house supplied the Take Out Food — it was wonderful. Michael and Lyndis, just made us so welcome. This site is well kept and Covid secure. We will be back to this wonderful CL, with the large field where you can sit and relax.

A great welcome!

Dukeries Retreat at Hill Crest Farm
We stayed here at the beginning of August on our way up to the Border Country. We'd had a great day at Clumber Park National Trust - just down the road. Very impressive entrance to the site. Once in, we received a great welcome from our hosts and pitched up on a rather wonderful field as the sun went down. Facilities were extremely well kept and included Covid secure things. We will definitely stop off again sometime on our long journeys up and down the A1. Thank you (belatedly!).

Perfect !

Dukeries Retreat at Hill Crest Farm
As already said by other 'happy campers' this is the gold standard for a cl. Spacious, well presented and with so much space. The pre-arrival information and warm welcome were much appreciated. We were only able to book one night but we'll definitely be back, if we can get a pitch !

PEACE & TRANQUILITY

Dukeries Retreat at Hill Crest Farm
Leaving today having spent 18 nights on this wonderful C.L. I thought hard about leaving a review because i wanted to keep it a secret but credit is due to Lyndis and Mick for their C.L. All the positive comments have been said by past visitors and i agree without dought. The only negative point will be when we want to book a pitch and Lyndis or Mick says sorry we are booked up.Anyway thank you Lyndis & Mick for your hospitality and hope to see you again in the near future god willing.
