Why stay here ...

Welcome to Northfield Lodge Caravan Site. This secluded CL is a private and rural 3 acre site situated on a working arable and livestock farm, yet is only 6 miles from the centre of Oxford. The site has the River Cherwell running alongside on one edge with sheltered areas within the site. Beyond that there are open fields. Fishing is available within the CL site area.

The site is a lovely location for a relaxing break, visits to the 'City of the Dreaming Spires' or historical Blenheim Palace. The site is regularly mown and we allow visitors to choose where they would like to pitch within the whole field. The site is split into two distinct areas; the top area includes water, bins and an emptying point. The bottom area (roughly just over an acre) which is next to the river is more secluded. There is a slope leading to this area, however you may prefer to access this from driving through the top area and continue towards the river. Both of these sections have water facilities.

Railway work has been taking place over the last two years which has left an exposed area on the top section of the site, however we are in the process of planting trees to screen this.

Dogs are welcome on the site, however we do ask that visitors are considerate of others and ensure they clear up after their dogs.

The river and fields surrounding the site provide an abundance and variety of wildlife. There are several routes available for walking or cycling from the site either to Kidlington, Islip (through a ford ankle to knee deep) or towards Oxford (5 miles).

We are approximately 1 mile from the local village of Kidlington (reportedly the largest village in England) which has many local amenities. You can also catch a local bus (1 mile) or Park and Ride (2.5 miles) into Oxford. There is also a newly opened railway station, Oxford Parkway (Chiltern Line) which can take you to the Bicester Village retail outlet in 20 minutes or directly into London Marylebone in just 1 hour. The line runs close to the site on quiet rails, and is being screened with a new planting of trees.

There are plenty of areas to explore in the locality, beautiful villages and historic towns within Oxfordshire and the nearby Cotswolds.

Advanced booking required and Gas is available to purchase. Payment can be made by cheque or cash on arrival. Deposits will be required to secure your booking.

We look forward to welcoming you to our site.

Hidden Gem

Although only 15 mins from our Home Address - this has become our regular weekend getaway. Set in idyllic grounds with more space then you know what to do with. Mr and Mrs Smith are very accommodating - it is peaceful with just the slightest whisper of the A34 in the distance but not intrusive and is far outweighed by the views tranquillity. The occasional trains just add to the fun and the kids love waving at them. Wary of making it known to all as I wouldn't want to lose my spot!

Our little piece of heaven

Our third visit this year to this site, we always get a warm welcome and we had the field all to ourselves. It was so peaceful just to sit and enjoy the sunshine and watch the wildlife in the river. The dogs loved the freedom. Worth a visit

So much space!

Stayed for a couple of days in July, huge field plenty of options and many fresh water taps dotted around the site. I primarily visited for a spot of fishing but disappointingly there were no prepared swims along the river bank so I had to 'create' my own swim. However, once prepared the fishing was excellent with good quality Roach, Chub and Perch. The new railway line and trains are so quite you'll never know they were there. Lots of wildlife including Red Kites, Buzzards,Kingfishers, Reed Warblers, Long Tailed Tits etc, etc. This is a site I would certainly return to.

Great site if you want to be near Oxford

We arrived and the owner was very helpful and friendly. The site had just been mowed and we had it all to ourselves. We pitched up near the river and the dogs had a great time chasing the ball in the open space. There were lots of wildlife, ducks, deer, rabbits which teased the dogs. We were visiting family so did not need to go into Oxford but can get the park and ride very easily. Supermarket is just down the road. There were lots of water taps and the the waste and bins were in the top field. Its near the train line, but the trains are electric so very quite and only slight noise fro the A34 road. First time off electric for us, and enjoyed being away from the shackles of the caravan club sites, so were are looking at doing it again.

A delightful site

We love to be in quiet CL sites and none gets better than here at Northfield. A long journey from Yorkshire and a lovely welcome from Rosie and Merlin. How nice to be able to choose our spot to park up. Loads of space and love the intermitant trees for privacy. Perfect. Out of the way but still close to Oxford and local places of interest. The park and ride is close and recommeded for a trip into Oxford. We came down for The Countryfile live at Blenheim Palace. Peace, space, privacy, the river, wildlife and other like minded people made this a great place to be. The nearby trainline didn't worry us in the slightest. Maybe we felt a little smug that we were enjoying our break while others were commuting!!! A hidden gem. Thank you.
