11 nights in rural Shropshire

Gilberries Hall Farm
We booked and stayed for 11 nights on this small CL in rural Shropshire. The location was perfect for exploring Shropshire including walks along Wenlock Edge, the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones. Much Wenlock Priory and Stokesay Castle were also close by and highlights of our trip. The CL is in need of some TLC, as per previous reviews, the hard standing pitches are rather overgrown, and some searching is needed to locate the drainage point on some pitches. The existing toilets (2no), showers (2no) and washing up sinks (2no) are ‘cleaned’ infrequently, and toilet paper is ‘topped up’ infrequently (only one spare roll in each toilet if lucky) which on busy weekends can lead to toilet paper shortages! The ‘under construction’ toilet/shower block sits rather forlornly unloved and unfinished, and looking back at previous reviews, has been in this condition for approaching 5 years. We did see the owner (Kate) on a couple of occasions during our stay, but not ‘actively’ engaging with new arrivals or information. The owners appear to leave it to existing pitch occupiers to ‘help’ any new arrivals with site briefings or help (an existing pitch occupier helped us on arrival and we help three new arrivals in return). A basic CL in a rural location.

Tranquility in the rural Shropshire countryside

Gilberries Hall Farm
Shropshire is a lovely county. It doesn't get the same appreciation as some other counties, but it should. Shrewsbury is a very interesting city not far from the site and the small town of Church Stretton is well worth a visit. Set in the rolling countryside, the site is maybe in need of a touch of TLC. All the facilities are in place, it's just that they're a bit tired. As others have commented, the toilet block that never was, silently dominates like the elephant in the room. Obviously begun to up grade the existing facilities, for one reason or another, it has never been completed. This is a big shame as the current existing toilet block, although clean, is past its best. It is also attached to the private house of the proprietor and you do feel as though you're entering their garden. Also, as others have commented, we never at any time during our stay saw the proprietor, however for us this wasn't a problem. These points are just ones to bear in mind. Our stay was great and the size of the pitches were very generous. My husband worked for 2 days using the free WiFi and it worked fine. The site is popular and was full over the weekend and we will be back for a short break stay in the future.

Peaceful, friendly site

Gilberries Hall Farm
We were welcomed by Katie and her girls, and made ourselves comfortable. The showers and loos are nice and clean and there are plenty of places, including the field in front of the site, where it was possible to walk our dogs. Very nice and we would return again.

Absolute Gem

Gilberries Hall Farm
What an amazing peaceful site. All the facilities are fantastic, large pitches and beautiful views. When you arrive just set up on an available pitch, put your pitch fee in the box in the shower block and relax. The owners are very friendly and pop over to say hello. We were allowed to walk the dog across the fields in front of the site which was a big bonus. Absolutly no negatives at all, we will be returning as soon as possible to this little piece of heaven.

Lovely CL with good facilities

Gilberries Hall Farm
Arrived late Friday for a weekend stay. Rang en route and Kate explained we could pitch up and contact her in the morning. When we did she (and her kids) were lovely and even gave us some milk as we had forgotten it! Site has good views of hills, very quiet, all hardstanding and electrics with a toilet block with 2 showers. Great access to the Long Mynd (10 mins) and Ironbridge (25mins) amongst many other attractions - will definitely be back.
