Great site

Chatterwood
This was my second visit to the lovely site. Views remain beautiful, road noise is there but not intrusive, I am noise sensitive. Horses grazing, birds and the steam trains make it special. All level serviced pitches . Ease of arrival and departure. Quantocks within walking distance as is local pub. Sadly due to negative comments this site may not be here next year such a shame. Jane and Tim run a lovely CL site . Thank you

Exceptional Site

Chatterwood
It is sad that a few negative reviews from obviously very inexperienced visitors has caused the owner to consider packing it in for next season. I hope she has a change of heart. This is a great CL. Yes there is a little road noise from about 300 yards away. However the serviced pitches with hook-up, fresh water and grey dump make up for that. There are great views, and the fabulous walking on the Quantocks is only 1/2 mile away through the picturesque village. Pub and shop in village - what more could you ask for. I would suggest advertising this as an adult only site. There isn't much to keep kids entertained - except for horses, dogs and steam trains. And I am happier on a site without noisy kids. I hope it is still open next year as I want to visit in the spring for the glorious local wildlife.

I concur with Merlin's review 26th August 2021

Chatterwood
Having just spent 3 nights at Chatterwood I concur with Merlin's review. Lots of road noise which isn't the host's fault but then don't advertise the site as peaceful and tranquil. Rubbish not emptied from the open recycling area for whole duration of our stay and whiff from sewage dump didn't add to the attraction - its barely an arm's length from pitch 2 (and 2 arms from pitch 3). Also waste dump not cleaned in whole duration of stay. Good points were that the view is half decent with the odd steam train passing by. Easy to access via the road (but if it were raining and leaving the site towing i think my car would have needed to go into 4x4 mode to get us off the steep track and back onto the A road. Its a 'no' from me, but we're all different.

Another gem of a CL with serviced pitches

Chatterwood
I loved this site and I do hope the owners continue to keep the CL open. I was on pitch 1 and had no problems whatsoever. The owner was friendly and informative. The steam train passes fairly close by but this was just an added attraction. After all, they don't run through the night! Serviced pitch, peace and quiet with no crowds. Isn't that what a CL is all about. I always use the facilities in my van so don't expect showers etc which are used by one and all. During these crazy times that's a must for me. 10/10. Would love to return.

OK but not 5 stars?

Chatterwood

Not quite sure how anyone who's been anywhere can give this site 5 stars. Don't get me wrong it's OK but NOTHING stands out. The owners seem very pleasant and accommodating just as most CL owners are. The hard standings with a grassed area at the sides is a nice touch but pitch 2 is very tight indeed AND you've got the pleasure of the recycling bins encroaching onto your pitch and the toilet dump adjacent. The views are nice but really only 7 out of 10 maximum, the site is quite small and hence you're pretty close to your neighbours. The grass cuttings are not picked up so be prepared for the inevitable fight with grass in your van. As has already been mentioned the road noise isn't particularly conducive to a 5 star rating either, it's the biggest downfall of the site frankly. At £20 I don't feel it represents particularly good value. for £3 more we stayed at Trewethett Farm with free hot showers loads of space, no road noise, great TV reception and truly truly amazing views.

Response from the Club

Thank you for your review of Chatterwood. The CL owner has been in touch as she works really hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time at their beautiful CL Site. First of all we would like to assure you that all pitches are correctly marked for size. The CL owner has also advised that you were offered another pitch but declined to move. They would have been more than happy to have helped if you had wanted to change pitches. As you can see from previous reviews this is a very popular site and we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay.
