Why stay here ...

Our CL is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, in an elevated position with truly breath-taking and far-reaching panoramic views across a spectacular rural landscape as far as the Quantocks and Blackdown Hills. This really is an ideal site for those looking for a peaceful and secluded break in an idyllic countryside setting. The site itself is on a large field with electric hook-up and space for awnings. A shower and toilet are available day and night. Adults, children and pets are all welcome. Please note that there are no extra person charges for children under 12 years old.

The site is in a tranquil and rural location on a small working farm with sheep, goats, chicken, ducks, guinea fowl and pheasants (horses during the winter months) and is ideally located for touring the many places of interest in this area including Taunton, Glastonbury and Wells. There are beautiful walks available on the Quantocks and Blackdown Hills. Good access is enjoyed to the Jurassic Coast, (including Charmouth, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis), the north coast (including Minehead, Lynton and Lynmouth), and Exmoor National Park. More locally are the RSPB centre (c.2.5 miles), The Wetlands centre (c.4 miles), a canal boat ride (c.3 miles). The County Town of Taunton (c.7 miles) offers a museum, two theatres, swimming pool, bowling, a large cinema complex, a racecourse, Somerset County Cricket ground and many excellent restaurants.

There are a variety of National Trust properties in the area, including Barrington Court, Dunster Castle, Knightshayes Court, Montacute House and Hestercombe Gardens. Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, Wells Cathedral, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge would make other excellent day trips. For those with children, Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park (c.14 miles), The Fun Farm (c.8 miles), Axe Valley Wildlife Park (c.20 miles) and Tropiquaria Animal and Adventure Park (c.18 miles) are well worth a visit.

For other great ideas, please see Day Out With Kids - Taunton. There is a choice of pubs serving food and a local shop within a mile of the site. The Bell Inn in our local village offers good pub food, with a selection of vegetarian options. An excellent pub restaurant (The Bird in Hand) is within a 3 mile drive.

Great CL!

Can only echo other reviews and say what a lovely little site this is! Clean facilities, well-maintained and a beautiful location. Quiet lanes are great for walking and cycling. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Exactly waht it says on the tin

The description of this site on the website is 100% accurate and I can't add much to it, except to say that the owner is very pleasant and helpful. It is a gem of a CL and reasonably priced as it includes use of a shower. Only small negative is that the last half mile of approach is along a narrow lane with limited passing places. Will definitely use this site again.

Just lovely!

Have just spent 3 nights here with two children and a dog. Pretty flat field, quiet, amazing views, relaxed hosts, lots of animals and wildlife and easy to get to. Will definitely return.

Really lovely site

We have just had a 13 night stay at this lovely CL. Our son lives nearby so it is an ideal base for us to see our grandchildren. The site is very peaceful and the views are amazing. Kev and Ally are very welcoming and we could happily have kidnapped Rufus!! We will definitely be going back again and again.

Beautifull views and peacefull location - April 2018

After a short drive along a small country road we arrived at Crimson Hill Farm site, access into the farm wasn't an issue. After turning into the site field we were greeted with stunning views towards the Quantocks and beyond. We were the only ones on the site at the time over the period of our five night stay, a couple of other vans visited but only over night; having plenty of space between pitches made the stay a very quiet and pleasant one. Two local Pubs, one walking distance (The Bell) with a local country shop next door, makes for a nice walk taking approximately 40 minutes at a stroll. We visited the other on the way back from a day out and had a meal, very nice and reasonably priced food. Close to National Trust locations and 30 miles from Mine head ideally situated for days out. Toilet and shower always clean and tidy which is attached and part of the house. As you visit, you walk by both the sheep, lambs and horses in the paddock which is lovely especially first thing in the morning, also Rufus, Kevin's little dog comes out to greet you 'good morning'. A really lovely stay Kevin and his wife really friendly and helpful, we will visit again.
