Stocksbridge Certificated Locations
The town of Stocksbridge is part of the city of Sheffield and sits in the valley of the Little Don River, with the Underbank Reservoir above.
Its name comes from a crossing over the river, which was built by John Stocks in 1716. He constructed the bridge so that his workers could reach his mill from the north side of the waterway.
Stocksbridge has a long tradition of brass bands, partly due to steelworks in the area, which continue to practice and perform to this day.
The town’s proximity to the Peak District makes it the perfect base for those who wish to explore the surrounding area, with walking being a common pastime.
