Why stay here ...
We are a family run CL site with our own lake in a small rural village called Ellingham. Ellingham is in the River Waveney Valley on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.
We provide electric hook up to each of the 5 pitches, recycling and general waste bins, drinking water tap, a grey water disposal point and separate waste point away from the area.
The setting is very picturesque and secluded making it a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay.
The local area offers many tourist attractions just a short drive away as we are quite central to these and there is easy access to main roads leading in all directions.
Approximate driving times to these towns are:
- Bungay - 5 minutes
- Beccles - 10 minutes
- Loddon - 10 minutes
- Gt Yarmouth - 30 minutes
- Lowestoft - 30 minutes
- Southwold - 30 minutes
- Halesworth - 25 minutes
- Diss - 30 minutes
- Norwich - 25 minutes
We are close to the Norfolk Broads and for those of you who would like to hire day boats will find many businesses like this within the local area.
There are picturesque cycling and walking routes through the local countryside and by the River Waveney.
Family tourist attractions near by are:-

- Great Yarmouth seafront with Pleasure Beach, crazy golf, cinema, bowling, swimming pool, sandy beach, donkey rides, horse and carriage rides, amusements, circus, greyhound racing, stock cars, horse racing, roller skating etc

- Southwold - beautiful town , beach, pier, upmarket shops, galleries, restaurants

Friendly site.
The Old Nurseries
Arriving on site you are made very welcome by Nicola. Everything was fully explained to us and we went to find our allocated pitch. Nice.with plenty of room for the awning and car. The fishing lake is adjacent to all of the pitches and fenced off for safety, with several access gates. Although the water was low the fishing was still good. We had torrential rain one day while we there the pitches didn't waterlog at all. We would definitely use this site again.
Couple of nights in June 2017
The Old Nurseries
We stayed here for a couple of nights and had intended to do a little fishing, the lake was a decent size and we spoke to a couple who were fishing the day we arrived. Unfortunately the weather turned very wet and windy which spoiled our stay. We took a nice walk along to the local village just before it started raining. When we got back we were like a couple of drowned rats and battened down the hatches for the next 24 hrs. We met some lovely people in the shop on site which sells fireplaces and the lady who was looking after the site was very friendly. The site was quiet, we were the only people on site for the first night but more were expected by the weekend. TV reception was very bad with the amount of trees about.

The Old Nurseries
The owners of the CL, Mr and Mrs Bale, are regularly around and welcoming.
The site itself, generally level, is well screened from neighbouring houses and the A143 by tall Leyland Cypresses, mainly. However, they do not much reduce the sound of the road, which is close and busy in the day time. The majority of the pitches are surrounded by the trees which make them dark and limit the TV reception. Until I changed pitches I could not access terrestrial or satellite channels. During an October stay, which, admittedly, was not sunny, the site was gloomy.
A drinking water tap, grey water disposal and bin area are close to the pitches. The chemical disposal point and the shower and lavatory are about 100 metres away. The last mentioned are a little ramshackle, accessed through a garage used for storage and just about adequately clean.
Off-site dog walking is easy.
The Bales also offer on-site fishing in some ponds which are small but which, judging from the photographs at the entrance, contain some large fish.
The excellent Broome Artichoke is just over half a mile away.
