Wasteland

We booked this CL back in October 2019 for a week as we needed to be near our daughter. We arrived late in the afternoon after 300 mile trip. The site was nothing like we expected! The grass was really long and the hard standings were so weed covered we had difficulty seeing where they were. The water tap was in a disgusting state. It had a piece of clear oerspex behind it but behind the perspex it was full of green and brown mould. We has contact with the owner via email and were led to be we could pay by credit or debit card on arrival we found that this was not the case.Due to tge CLs position close to a resonably busy road we never expected it to be perfect but did expect it to be better than it was. We contacted Caravan and Motorhome Home Club on our arrival home and told them about the state of the site and provided photos. We were told that the site was going to be closed until it was brought upto standard. I can only assume this has been dome as I see it is now accessible for bookings again! If that is the case some fresh pictures would be very useful.

Perfect piece of Wiltshire

This is a wonderful site with access to the local area. The bus stops immediately outside give regular access to Royal Wootton Bassett through to Swindon or the opposite direction towards Calne. The area is excellent for walks, the surrounding area being predominantly flat. Local places of interest include the White Horse at Cherhill is a 6 mile stroll, lovely on a clear calm day. The site itself is kept in excellent condition by Steve and Gail with access being through the car park into an enclosed grassed area. If the ground is wet it is best to keep cars in the pub car park as outside the hardstanding areas for caravans the grass is very green and can become quite slippery. Toilets at not always available but are scrupulously clean and warm, there are no wash facilities but the water and electric supplies are very reliable. In event of the water tap being frozen a second tap at the pub ensures it remains available. All in all I can thoroughly recommend this site to those who have a degree of independence.

From a older couple

Hi we have an old camper ,we chose this site as it list having a WC but it does not list that it is only when the pub is open .we had a friendly greeting and a good meal but think it should be listed differently as we do not have any WC on the van
