Why stay here ...

Certificated Locations (CLs) are small, peaceful sites which usually take up to five vans. Each location is unique, whether on a working farm or a large country estate, in the heart of the countryside or convenient for exploring a nearby town. While most CLs offer members the opportunity for a more “back-to-basics” touring holiday up to half of the sites now have electric hook-up facilities. To book a stay at one of our CLs, members are required to contact the owners directly detailing your name, address, telephone number and membership number.

a great week in absolute peace

What a find, we prefer non electric sites, so finding this one was a bonus, fantastic views, nice owner who came to see us virtually every day, just to see we were happy, don't want to praise it up too much or it might not be so peaceful, lol and only a fiver a night

More non-hookup CLs like this one please.

We need more non-hookup CL sites like this one. Great value at just a fiver a night. This was our 3rd visit, we stayed 10 nights and had a lovely time. Good views, nice local dog walks and the children really loved playing in the little stream. We had eggs for breakfast from the farm, the hens were the friendliest I have ever met.  It’s a decent sized site, so there was plenty of room between the caravans. There was a little bit of noise from quad bikes and tractors doing the rounds, but this is a working farm, so to be expected. The farm dogs were also a bit noisy; they went mad every time somebody filled their Aquaroll, but again this is a working farm. On the practical side, the chemical waste point and bin are very handy and well serviced, though the water is at the top of the hill in the farmyard. Negotiating a cattle grid with a full Aquaroll took practice and the walk uphill could be hard going for some. A tap on the other side of the cattle grid would be a big improvement.  These basic ‘off-grid’ sites seem to be disappearing fast, but with modern solar panels, they are becoming quite popular. So although this site is off the beaten track, it was busier than we expected, but all in all we had a very enjoyable stay.

Off the beaten track

HappyWe love these 'off grid' sites, wish that there was more of them. Found the site easy enough following the directions given, not clear which field it was once we got there, it turned out to be the one full of sheep at the time. The sheep cleared off as we set the caravan up, a lot of droppings all over the field, something to bear in mind if you are bringing children and dogs. The farmer who owns the site does not live in the farmhouse at the top of the hill, it is rented by someone else. It felt a bit intrusive going there for water, quite a hike from the site or having to use the car, so we opted to fill the aqua rolls from the burn and used cheap bottled water for cleaning teeth etc. We were lucky with the weather which was fantastic! Dogs at the farm barked at all hours of the day and night, not as quiet as we would have liked because of this, but really this was the only down side. Saw red kites most days, saw one having a tussle with a crow, not sure who won, both flew off in different directions. Heard a cuckoo. Dog chased a deer. I would definitely return.

Glorious LocalPlacesOfInterest

We have just got back from a 5 night stay here and really enjoyed ourselves. The site is a large field with lovely views and a stream that we pitched right next to. We found the site without too much problem but it is very much "in the middle of nowhere". You wouldn't be able to walk to very many places from the site but it isn't far to drive to get places. This is a perfect sire for those looking for peace and quiet in a very pretty location with only basic facilities.

Pros: level, space, quiet, views Cons: takes a bit of finding and water from the farm

This CL takes a bit of finding being at the end of a succession of minor roads. Access is good – the tarmacked road goes through the edge of the CL. The CL field is huge, level and has a small river/large stream running through it – wonderful for kids and dogs. The CL itself is picturesque. Great views. Being so far off the beaten track it is very quiet – you won’t hear anything but silence. There are a couple of plantation forests nearby; one is accessed through the farmyard. You’ll have them to yourself. The only negative point is that drinking water is from the farm yard which is up the hill from the CL. We never drink from the aquaroll so we filled it from the river and just took our drinking water containers to the farm.
