Sue and Les welcome you all to our new Sorbie School CL site which is situated in the grounds of the former primary school in the centre of Sorbie village which we have made our home. After spending most of our lives in central Manchester we fell upon this little gem, the village is very peaceful and everyone is friendly.
All our pitches are hard standing with a grassy area, and the site offers full services. We pride ourselves on our excellent heated shower facilities which consist of two showers, two toilets and a washroom, also a separate dish wash area.
Our site is an Adult only site for that perfect secluded and peaceful getaway; we boast great views and an abundance of wildlife, deer, foxes, badgers and numerous birds. The site lies immediately to the south of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park and on a clear evening you’ll see more stars than you could ever count and a wonderful look at our Solar System.
We are in a very central location which is served by a local bus route in to nearby Newton Stewart, Garlieston, Whithorn and Wigtown which all have lots of things to discover, and a great location to explore the surrounding areas, also a perfect stop over on your way to the ferry at Cairnryan or for your travels up the west coast.
There are many activities in the surrounding area; we have a cycling centre at Kirroughtree which has a 7stanes mountain bike course and some lovely walks, as well as being a recognised Stargazing Site. There is also Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre about a 30 minute drive away.
We have an Italian restaurant (The Pheasant) on our doorstep which serves first class food and Andrea and Morag always provide a warm welcome. There is a cosy pub in Garlieston that serves great pub grub and a Chinese and Indian restaurant in Newton Stewart. We also have a Gin Distillery that do tour and Gin tasting sessions all of these are on the local bus route. There are plenty of supermarkets and shops in the area.
We have the nearby Kilsture Forest, which is the largest patch of woodland in the open countryside of the Machars. It looks especially pretty in January, when the snowdrops are peeping through and in May, when the bluebells carpet the ground, also great dog walks in the surrounding area and we have provided a washing area for your “mucky pup” when he/she gets back.
As motor homers ourselves and have travelled around the UK and abroad, we have tried to create a clean site with modern facilities that we hope will not only make your stay pleasant and enjoyable, but will encourage you to revisit our beautiful area and CL site regularly!
