Why stay here ...

Our site offers a choice of any five hook-up pitches from the following:

  • Four grass pitches on a slight slope (one of these is too wet to use at times) – chiefly for caravans.
  • Four hard-standing pitches on level ground  – chiefly for motorhomes.

An adjacent car park has two hook-up outlets for late arrivals to stay overnight.

Facilities include a fresh water point, disposable  for grey water, chemical waste, general rubbish, food and recyclable waste.

There is a toilet with a hand-wash basin but no shower.

Wifi available on request and located near Barn area on site.

An adjacent field offers dogs a run-about and there are also walks in the 12 acre grounds.

There is a 1 acre lake with wild fowl and a bird-hide and both lake-side and woodland walks. Deep and unfenced water in this lake and other smaller ponds poses danger to small children.

A ten minute walk through woodland leads into the centre of the village of Bethesda.

Train enthusiasts will find that we are central to several narrow-gauge railways and on our site, there is a ride-on 5” gauge railway with 600 yards of track, a tunnel, bridges, signal boxes and a turn table.  Train rides are sometimes available.

We are centrally placed for three historic castles and two National Trust grand houses.

We are close to the mountains of Snowdonia with easy access for mountain walks, mountain bike-rides and rock climbing.

The Snowdonia Zip Wire – the longest in Europe is within a mile and the North Wales Cycle path passes close by.

The beaches and costal walks of Anglesey are accessible.

The Joys of Life Country Park also offers self-catering and bed and breakfast accommodation that caravaners often find attractive for friends or family who are not caravan-orientated.

Sat-navs will take you astray.  Don’t leave the B4409 except through our big red gates!

Mature Couple

Excellent site; bit puzzled about where to site the van when we arrived, but set up on pitch 7 - hardstanding and peaceful; owner later confirmed OK. Midges were bad, but we just closed all the fly screens - worth it for the ambience of the site

Excellent CL

We've stayed on quite a few CLs and this is probably the best we've experienced. We seldom go to the same place twice, but this is one we're likely to come back to. Good location for Snowdonia and the north coast, peaceful surroundings (apart from the odd low flying military jet, no more than a few times a day), exceptional surroundings including woodland walks, miniature railway, lake and bird hide. The top grass pitches are on quite a steep slope, as someone else has commented setting up there may need a bit more work but you do get a lovely position. Hard standings pretty much level, more among the trees.

Happy family holiday

This is a very pretty and peaceful site. It was easy to access with the very clear instructions from the owners. We stayed for 11 nights in August with our three children and while it may not be ideal for very young families as there is a large lake on site, we were very happy. We used pitch 7 which was level and on on a hard standing though I suspect it's just luck as to which pitch is available when you arrive. Behind the grass pitches, there was a mown field that the owners allowed us to play ball on. The walk through to Bethesda is really easy, through the very green oak woods nearby. There are plenty of convenience stores and take aways in town (Tesco Express is open until 11pm) and I believe you can catch a bus to Bangor there. While we were there the local model railway club held one of their open days so much to the delight of my children, they could ride the miniature railway around the site. There is so much to do in North Wales if you are prepared to drive around. We used the beaches on Anglesea (Benllech is very family friendly), visited Penryhn Castle which is just a few minutes drive away in Bangor, and went crabbing from the piers at Bangor and Beaumaris. The chap who runs the souvenir/crabbing supplies stall on the pier at Bangor is brilliant. We also went to the 'Bounce Below' at Blaenau Ffestiniog which was expensive but a good thing to do on a wet day. Caernarfon is also another great day out.

A fabulous CL

What a fabulous CL this is. Easy access from the A55 but superb location for accessing all the mountains you could ever wish to climb + all the other attractions of Snowdonia. Lovely grounds to be able to walk in with a cut through to Bethesda to access shops. As always the pictures on the website don't do it full justice. The views are wonderful. Pitch 1 is a little awkward to pitch on as it slopes both ways so you'll need to raise a wheel as well as drop the nose as far as possible to get things level. It's also more than 25m away from the electric hook up point so either take an extension or ask the owner to borrow his 50m lead. It's well worth the trouble though as you get the best views of the mountains from this pitch. We loved this CL and could happily have stayed longer. Owners were very friendly and helpful and having the toilet saves on a few loo emptying trips. Would we go back? Definitely. I think it's the nicest and most attractive CL we've every stayed on.

ideal stop

Our 3 night stop was mainly to walk the local area as well as a visit to Velocity Zip World which was only a ten minute easy walk which we accessed via a well maintained path from near site entrance. Many paths and walks to do. The site was ideal with privilaged access to walks around the grounds, quiet & peacefull. Good road access to many surrounding towns. We will use this site again
