Why stay here ...

A warm welcome to my peaceful site, where the level grass pitches come with stunning views over the Welsh hills and Somerset coast. All pitches have EHU and there is a shower and toilet.

We have a lake surrounded by trees just across the field and there is both trout and coarse fishing about 0.5 mile from site. Conveniently located halfway between Cardiff and Newport, Caerphilly Castle, Castle Coch and Cardiff Bay and Museum are all within easy reach, and there is a village with shops within 0.75 mile. There are also three supermarkets approximately 3 miles from site.

enjoyable stay

We arrived far too early but without any hesitation Mrs Walford found us somewhere very secluded to park and she was kindness itself. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the farm and will most certainly return. We were warned before going by Mrs Walford that the road was narrow and the turn into the farm was a sharp one but none of it presented a problem and we thought it was nice of this lovely lady to inform us.

Dogs toiletJust

Just returned from spending 4 nights here and was very disappointed with the site.it is very tired and for £14 a night not worth it.the toilet and shower room was scruffy, The toilet roll wasn't replaced until we asked, the owner said she didn't need to provide it.it was never cleaned while we were there either.on arrival we found 2 lots of dog poo and 1 morning a dog came wandering in pooed on the grass and then left.we asked the owner if she knew whose dog it was and she said it was her daughter in laws next door.no apology Just said they usually cleared it before mowing! The photo is misleading as there are no views as the hedge is too tall, and very big conifers.we would not return even though it is handy for Cardiff and Barry.

A mixed review

This site is perfectly placed not far from the motorway to access Cardiff, loads of castles and attractions for the children. It was modestly priced but extras for children, awning etc did increase the price a bit. There was a nice walk down to a small wood and lake with the dog. The site was clean and tidy but the 5van is linked to the owner's private small site and did feel a bit tight on space when we arrived to find it busy. Some words of warning - if you have a long outfit ( we have a double axle van) the entrance is a nightmare and will either involve a skill full 90 degree rear turn or involve you unhitching and using a motor mover - made even more difficult when we came to leave to find someone had parked a car in part of the turning area and the owner could not be traced - that was fun!!! On one of our days the man came around to cut the grass, lovely. Until we returned to find our tow hitch cover had been ripped open and the rear van bumper scuffed as he had mown too close. The owner did apologise but didn't cough up anything for the damage!!!!!!! The only other negative was that the chemical disposal (an old sunken pipe) was under an old overgrown conifer tree and there is no way of flushing down what has been left before you!!!! Would we stay here again? Yes but probably only because of its location.

A perfect CL

This is exactly how I like CLs - peaceful, lovely outlook, hook up and not too many vans around you. I usually see a toilet and shower as a bonus on CL sites so I don't place too much importance on those. They were rustic and in an outhouse but perfectly functional with hot water. You don't need much more than that. Yes the entrance is tight and forewarned is forearmed and all that, but we have a 7m long caravan and managed fine. We were visiting Cardiff and the Club Site nearby was full. Next time we will stay here without hesitation. It was just as close to Cardiff and had everything we need from a caravan site. Part of its charm was how quiet the site was (3 vans including ours) so I will avoid on bank holidays as I wouldn't like it as much if it was busy.

Lovely site, but......

This is a lovely looking site with nice views. Good base for walking, NT's and Cardiff not far away. Bit of a tight squeeze turn in the farm yard area for longer units. Rustic loo and shower. However.. it's one of those "5 van only" CL's that can, and did, have many more than that on it! There's two separate fields and an "overflow"! We were staying the same time as the previous reviewer, but they had left a few days before bank holiday. When they say "it started filling up for Easter" they weren't kidding! 13 units were in leading up to and over the Easter weekend! One van on site couldn't connect to EHU because none were left! all using 1 WC! and bins not surprisingly overflowing! Aired our displeasure with the elderly owner whose excuse was that "she was quiet during off season"! great!
