If you’re looking for peace and tranquility then you’ll be hard pushed to find a better spot. The drive to the site maybe difficult for big caravans but we found it easy with our camper. Farmer Thomas was really cheerful and helpful giving details of the site and offering any assistance we needed during our stay. We were the only van on site which made it really special. The views are stunning so if you’re happy to be away from amenities, electric hookups, pubs etc this is the place. It has direct walking access to the Brecon Beacons mountain routes which is a bonus. We will be returning as soon as possible.
The location of the campsite looks amazingly peaceful in google and my ratings reflect that. Sadly we didn’t actually get to the site as the final lane to reach it was impossible to drive unless we didn’t mind scratching windows and bodywork - our motorhome is 2.3m wide and 2.7 high So just a warning if you have anything similar or larger.
As I say, we were disappointed not to actually camp but it was a stressful experience at the end of a long drive so am passing on the info
As newbie motorhomers this was our first trip and wow what a start! The location is stunning, views of Pen y Fan and the Black mountains, peaceful, quiet and so much room. The farm is a little way off but clear instructions at the gate as to what we should do if farmer was not around. It is on a slope but we had no problems, in fact it helped us find a little leak from our shower. Cycled to Talybont and the reservoir along quiet lanes and the Taff Trail. Met some lovely people at this site and I have no doubt we will come back. An amazing start to our motorhome fun and a fab introduction to CLs - bear in mind we have nothing to compare with.
Stayed here for two nights but could happily stay longer. 25 minutes walk to lovely pub in llanfrechan.
Don't come here if you want anything other than peace and quiet. Farmer Mr Thomas is really nice and is there only if you need him.
A real gem. Many thanks will definetly come again
I really like this L. It suits us perfectly and we have been there 4 times now. For some it might not be so perfect.
Its very tranquil. A real get away from it all location. Beautiful scenery.
Farmer is helpful and cheerfull. Leaves you to it and keeps out of the way. A real nice guy.
Field is pretty big. Even if there were 20 vans they would be further apart than most CL’s
The field varies.
Earlier in the year it is left to grow long – maybe up to a foot of really beautiful meadow. I love this and my dog loves it. Some may not. Fine if dry. Wellies if wet!!
After July cut it is short.
Water point is fine. Only one in field so can be a little walk of maybe 100m for those furthest away.
Chem point doesn’t have any rinse option so need to get some water from the water point which is 15m away.
Lots of walks, and horse riding in the area. Shops are 20 mins away. Not as much to do as say Cornwall, but still plenty with a bit of travelling.
Access is a couple of miles down lanes that are quite narrow in places, but there are no tight turns that would be a problem for longer vehicles.
There are passing points but might have to reverse the odd time. Some CC’ers might not like that.
If you’re the sort that likes to pull straight off main road into manicured site this probably isn’t you.
If you like it wilder then you’ll love it. We do.
