Two old blokes on a cycling break

Great CL for a lads cycle break. Cycling distance for Elan reservoirs and Rhayder. Right next to a petrol station with shop and Greggs...perfect for breakfast and a coffee (if you're lazy like us). The owner was very welcoming and met us promptly. Although site is on a main road the traffic noise was not a problem....quiet at night. Good tv reception. Facilities are clean...single (spacial) shower, toilet and laundry room (£3 honesty box). Hardstanding makes it perfect for all season. Just one tip for owner - if you staple some mesh to the vent holes in the shower room door, you may get less midges in the shower room. Had a great few days cycling around this beautiful part of Wales. Thank you. Stayed 21st to 25 October 2019.

The Halt

This site is fully hardstanding, not ideal for sitting out in chairs on grass so don't expect that. Perfect for when grass sites are sodden, not unusual for Wales. Also perfect for campers & motor homes. The site book is incorrect it is not behind a pub and this is a CMC error not the owners. Next to the CL is a 24hr Spar shop, garage and Greggs 'bakers. About 3 miles from Elam Valley visitor centre. Facilities are spotless . We're a 7.25m motor home and access is easy.

First class location.

Good clean basic site, access to site alongside the A470 . drive straight into site off main road. Road noise no problem. Shop garage, and cafe next door to site, very handy. Site is all hard standings , toilet, fantastic shower, washing machine and dryer, all very clean. Location is in the most fantastic scenery areas of Wales. Plenty of places to visit, Ideal for stop off or longer breaks. Will use this site again.

So-so

This is our 6th CL visited after returning to caravanning after a 15 year break. We have also stayed on a couple of "commercial sites" during our comeback. We're here for hillwalking so we're away during the day returning to shower, eat and sleep. The site is noisy from the nearby road (it's a long very fast straight). The view from the caravan is straight at the back of the former pub, not the end of the world, but not very appealing. The toilet area is very smelly, the shower curtain was cleaned this morning, last night it was black with mould, today it is nice and clean (I wonder if the review last week prompted the cleaning) . Attention to detail (cleaning should be normal not a special occasion) is clearly lacking. I wouldn't mind the £16 if it was good, sorry it's adequate at best. It's a shame great location but needs to do better.

Not really what it looks like

I like to think I am a positive person so I'd like to start the review on a positive. Good level pitches. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. The pitch area could do with a bit of weed killer but is level and quire good. The toilet, is clean, but only cold water still to wash hands, no soap or towel. The shower was clean but the shower curtain was covered in mould and was horrible. I have taken a picture in case of dispute. There are no hooks to hang your towel, clothes etc in the shower area. There is a table/shelf thing but what if the last person put there shoes on it as well? The shop is well stocked next door but the cafe closes at 5pm each night. So unless you want to eat early you will be cooking. They do a good breakfast though. The wi fi did not work and we have several devices we were trying to connect with.road noise was quite low. We have stayed many places for less that £16 and had a lot more facilities. I would say there are two options for the Halt. Lower the price or up your standards.
