Peaceful Meathop Fell Club Campsite in pretty Grange-over-Sands is thoughtfully laid out with separate pitching areas attractively divided by shrubs and grass. The campsite is an ideal base to launch your exploration of Cumbria and the beautiful Southern Lake District.

Brockhole, the National Park Visitor Centre, is a good place to start your exploration, as it holds an enormous collection of information, books and audio/visual material about the Lakes under one roof. The entire area is a walker's paradise with its scenic beauty. Literary associations with famous artists are everywhere - from Wordsworth at Dove Cottage in Grasmere to Beatrix Potter at Sawrey. Another interesting excursion for the artistically inclined would be the Potter Gallery in the Main Street at nearby Hawkshead. Overnight Stay

Meathop Fell Club Campsite
An obviously kid friendly site - with lots of children on their bikes ( nice to see them enjoying themselves). A lovely dog enclosed run. Good shower and clean toilet facilities would stay again.

Lovely peaceful site

Meathop Fell Club Campsite
Fantastic site in a lovely peaceful place. Facilities are excellent, very clean and lots of showers and private cubicles. The welcome was warm and friendly, and really helpful. Close by the Woodlands Hotel serves good food and there is a great Pizza Van onsite at weekends. We are new to Campervans and still have a lot to learn - we were made to feel very welcome. I would highly recommend the site.

Nice clean, tidy, quiet site.

Meathop Fell Club Campsite
I had a very enjoyable 2 night stay in January 2024. The site is spacious, clean, tidy and quiet. I was very lucky with dry, sunny (ish) weather so did a couple of nice walks to Meathop Moss, and Grange over Sands. A bit remote though if you don't like walking too far. My pitch was flat and spacious with plenty of manoeuvring room. Nice view too. Fresh water and waste facilities were very close so no complaints. I did notice some of the pitches were on quite a slope though. Will be visiting again.

A cosy retreat

Meathop Fell Club Campsite
This was our first time at a clubsite and was very impressed with how clean and tidy it was. As we came out of season, it was nice and peaceful too. We had fantastic cold dry weather, stunning views from our caravan pitch. Very scenic. The showers and toilets were very clean and nice hot showers. Really liked the dog walking areas and the information hub. Lots of choices to visit, although not all open at this time of year. Will definitely come here again and will come when it's warmer and bring our bikes.

Avoiding Storm Babette

Meathop Fell Club Campsite
We were supposed to be going to Hebden Bridge and had only booked 7 days earlier. Then news of Storm Babette approaching concerned us enough to consider cancelling but online cancellation would have lost us our deposit and we didn't think it was fair due to only booking a week earlier. The 21 day cancellation policy doesn't alter for last minute bookings which is a flaw I think. Having said that, I rang CAMC for options as Hebden Bridge was under amber weather alert. I didn't want to take any risks but didn't want to lose my deposit either. We choose Meathop Fell (30 mins from home) as we weren't under any weather warning. We had to pay more as Meathop is a more expensive site but had a lovely weekend, warmly welcomed by the wardens and no wind or rain to speak of. Top notch facilities, pizza and burger nights on site, fabulous motorhome service point and friendly approachable wardens.
