Why stay here ...

Troutbeck Head Club Campsite in Penrith is set in classically beautiful North Lakeland countryside, and is conveniently only 4 miles from the restaurants and shops of Ullswater. A fabulous getaway for nature lovers and walkers, the caravan park nestles in a picturesque valley alongside a babbling brook.

Situated below the Great Mell Fell and with spectacular views of Blencathra to the west, Troutbeck Head Club Campsite gives you access to some of the prettiest walks in the country. For superb views of the central mountains, a drive over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass is not to be missed. This will lead you to Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere, where you can sample the local restaurants and explore some of Wordsworth's favourite haunts. A lake cruise on Ullswater is a must, with the option of a scenic walk between Howtown and Glenridding (only 7 miles away). For the energetic, the Rookin House Farm Centre next door to the caravan site offers plenty of fun activities - quad bikes, archery, go-karting, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and much more.

The site provides easy access to numerous lakes, mountains, valleys & rivers, whilst pretty villages, country pubs and farm shops are plentiful, making Troutbeck the ideal destination for exploring and relaxing in the Cumbrian countryside.

A small shop is now available in reception selling essential items.

Not a relaxing site

Troutbeck Head Club Campsite
This site is in a great location for holidaying around the lakes. The staff were friendly and We saw that that they were very helpful. Unfortunately we like a quiet and relaxing site and this site not only has an activity place next door but it’s also a farm and we happened to be there on the morning they decided to shear the sheep starting at 6.30 am. The pen was literally up against the fence to the site and we were on the other side. Also the dog walk seemed to be around the pitches including our own which we thought was not the correct etiquette The campsite didn’t appear to be overly busy but the shower block was not as clean as we had expected from CMC site

Favourite site…amazing location and facilities

Troutbeck Head Club Campsite
This has got to be the best site ever. It’s location is amazing for both walking and cycling. We’ve cycled to Ullswater and then up Kirkstone Pass to Windermere. Ullswater in my opinion is the prettiest lake in the Lake District. Lots of lovely cafes and places to stop off and just sit and relax. The site has really easy access, no horrible narrow roads. We’ve stayed on a fully serviced pitch and a standard pitch and both were superb! Wardens were super friendly. This is now our joint no 1 go to site.

First Trip - will be back !

Troutbeck Head Club Campsite
From arrival to departure a pleasure. Staff made you very welcome and kept the site clean and tidy. We used a serviced pitch as there for 2 weeks, first time we had done this and would do it again for the convenience. Although a big site you would never know it. It was busy with people coming and going for their few days away, to those who stayed longer, we met some lovely people and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The showers were always quiet, loads of hot water and spotless. The whole site was maintained really well. We had a look at the pods and they looked really nice. Great dog walk in the the forest area. Will definitely go back. Thanks Troutbeck Team.

First Site since 2019.

Troutbeck Head Club Campsite
This was our first site since September 2019, and a little further than we wanted to travel on the first day of our holiday to Scotland, we had little problem on the way, and informed the site that we would be late, they contacted us and we explained that it would be near 8:00pm when we would arrive and when we did they were at the office and we had a great reception. We stayed 2 nights and used the site as a launch pad for Scotland, we intend to do the NC500. I don’t easily remember names but the wardens were excellent and had a great selection of items that might be required because of forgetting to pack them. Highly recommend thats what we think of this sight, and we might use it on our return from Scotland.

Wonderful views .

Troutbeck Head Club Campsite
Stayed 5 nights on a pitch at the bottom of the site near the stream and adjacent farm . The views were spectacular even on an overcast day , sun sets were amazing. Facilities were spotless , wardens very friendly. Some noise from nearby activity centre early in the day but only for a short time and did not spoil our stay . The only thing that annoyed me were other people on site who thought it ok to wander around my van / car and down the side of my awning with their dogs - it’s rude and ill mannered to pitch cross .
