Directions

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to unsuitable roads for towing. From East on A684: turn right about 0.75 mile past railway bridge with traffic lights and just before the Pheasant Inn at Harmby. Cross the railway bridge, immediately turn left and follow signs to the site entrance. From West on A684: turn left just past the Pheasant Inn at Harmby; then as above. The route from M6 junction 37 via Sedbergh is not advised, being narrow in places. The immediate approach road to the site is narrow, with steep blind bends (look for traffic mirrors on bends).

Peaceful & relaxing.

Lower Wensleydale Club Campsite
Wonderfully relaxing 10 night stay here in early October. Site staff were excellent on arrival and throughout our stay, keeping a low profile but maintaining things to a high standard. Only slight downside is that the toilet/shower block is in need of quite a bit of TLC as it's looking a bit tired and tatty. We were on a "with awning" pitch which was big enough for our motorhome, however we did notice that the majority of caravans on similar pitches, whether they had awnings or not, were parking their cars in front of their caravans rather than to the right as per the usual site instructions due to the pitches generally being quite narrow, so as to avoid parking on the grass. That said, we enjoyed plenty of walks, with Middleham only a couple of miles away and Leyburn even closer. Aysgarth falls is half an hour by car with multiple walks and the circular walk from Aysgarth via Bolton Castle and Carperby is a good leg stretcher. Definitely will be returning.

Great location lovely staff

Lower Wensleydale Club Campsite
Lovely site on different levels with a reasonable amount of privacy between pitches. Super friendly staff. Nice clean toilets and showers. An easy mile walk into Leyburn on footpaths with the local pub The Pheasant Inn just 5 mins walk away. Good value for money at a time when other sites have increased their site fees expendentially. Will defiantly be returning,

Lovely site

Lower Wensleydale Club Campsite
Read reviews prior to visiting re dated facilities but was pleasantly surprised. Yes floor outside shower can get wet but lovely hot showers and extremely clean. We had stayed at a private site on way up to break journey and although the facilities there were more modern they were really dirty. Give me the club ones any day! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had lovely secluded pitch near drive to local pub. Lots to do in area, lovely walks and dog enjoyed the dog run. Shame we could only stay for 2 nights but we will be back.

Overdue a refurbishment

Lower Wensleydale Club Campsite
Peaceful site and some pitches feel quite secluded, however many pitches are not up to club standards, too small and uneven or steep. Our white peg 'awning' pitch was too narrow to erect an awning. We pitched as required between the white pegs, but this left us with about 6ft of unusable space at the offside of the caravan and insufficient space to pitch even a small awning on the nearside. The pegs should have been 3 or 4 feet further over and then we may have managed. The shower facilities are outdated despite new shower heads. The removal of the shower curtains is a pain at all the club sites, but here where the facilities were designed for use with curtains, it is actually quite dangerous for users as the floor quickly floods and cannot be cleared. The whole of the floor in the block is wet and a risk to club members, especially Children. The club needs to urgently address this in my opinion. The service points have elevated water filling and drain points, raised on bricks, which means barrels and wastemasters have to be heaved on/off to fill or empty. Not the best design. Wardens were hardworking and friendly and the site is an easy walk from town.
