I am a widower and have toured for many years but dont particularly enjoy it by myself can be lonely.

I would like to join a group of like minded people who like the outdoors.

I know there used to be a singles club within Club members but dont know if it still exists?

Appreciate any feedback

Cheers

Denise

Denise,  it might be worth your while going back down this thread and looking up some earlier posts. They might well hold guides to other similar solo holidayers.

Also it just might even be worth sorting thro' the "Information Rooms" when on Club sites - all sorts of notices appear there.

I was in the same position a few years ago and I joined the Loners, who I believe are now called New Horizons. There are several singles camping groups if you Google it.

Good luck, it can b miserable on your own.

Hi Denise  I posted a similar thread in the past because I caravan on my own now.  The trouble I found, with the organisations that I contacted, was that they were reluctant on giving details of their meets until after you joined.  While I appreciate the sensitivity of private personal data being shared on line I didn't want intricate personal details of organisers but merely when and where they meet to see if it was for me.

From the people I talk to I fear that these clubs/organisations are missing out on potential members, by not publishing their activities until you join, so can only assume that they have healthy memberships.

When I ran a singles club I set up a webpage so we could just pass the web address to anybody interested. As well as details of the club, types of activity I had images of our meets and parties, activities weekends away, holidays etc. Also though I had a couple of previous diaries with members contact numbers removed where they had been used. If somebody was interested they could contact me through the web page, No need to provide current details so its a shame these groups don't do similar.

What did amuse me was there was one of our friends that did not want his picture on the web. I painstakingly removed his image from a number of photos and replaced the background. There was one series of photos that I had taken when we had hired day boats on various canals. He was on all of them and so I picked one that I had taken a distance away on the other side of the canal and compressed the image so that the image would not be clear if enlarged. When I sent the images out to those in the group for approval he complained that when he blew it up he couldn't recognise himself laughing

Jill,

According to one of our number ( Triky Auto ) Vivien is still active as FREELANDER VIV with her newest recruit -- Biscuit her pup . I'm assuming she posts somewhere on Facebook or similar.

Brian

She does post on Facebook. I know a lot of people don't like using Social Media but the advantage of Facebook Groups is that they can be for a single topic whereas in a forum like this the posts tend to get lost as they are lumped in with everything else. Here is one such group https://www.facebook.com/groups/621595301616464/ There are probably more. This is not a recommendation from me just a result of a search.

Thank you for the confirmation David smile

I'm one of those who don't / won't use Faceache due to a couple of silly family members. I was just trying to be helpful to  the Solos amongst us.

Now I'll get back to those clock adjustments   wink  !
