See Flying Scotsman in action throughout 2019 and beyond as it hauls special tours across the UK.

Starting at  Swanage Railway from 22–26 March there will be five non-stop runs per day between Swanage to Norden and then from 27 March – 10 April the Flying Scotsman will be on display at Swanage Railway. if anyone wants to visit, Haycraft Club Site in Dorset is just a few minutes walk from Swanage Railway and Hunters Moon Club Site is also nearby.

Sadly, Flying Scotsman won't be going anywhere soon other than the repair shop.

It's currently stranded in Inverness awaiting a "Thunderbird" as it's currently "broken" and can't move on its own.

No, confirmed, news on what's wrong or, for that matter, how long it'll be out of use.

Is one of the Thunderbirds no longer stationed at Inverness?  There used to be one sitting idling for ever on the short end platform.

Have not seen the one at Polmadie for ages either.

I suspect the "Thunderbird" will be a West Coast Class 37 rather than an EWS (DB) Class 66 or 67...it'll be all to do with contracts.

Depending on the problem It probably a drag to Bury as it's Riley's who have the maintenance contract for FS.

. . . and if one of them gets mown down by an InterCity 125 (or whatever they are called nowadays) going the other way it will be everyone else's fault and not theirs!

The people who worry most about such incidents, Nav, are the poor blooming drivers. Also on those  rare occasions that the driver is unaware of what has happened then it might be anybody on the next station who sees the body still spread across the front of the vehicle as it pulls into the station.
