Loyalty not rewarded

The caravan and Motorhome Club does not appear to value the Loyalty of Members.

I have been a member of the Caravan Club for a number of years and have never hesitated in renewing my membership.

My 12 monthly subscription is due again at the beginning of next month and I had intended to renew again but was very disappointed to see that they are, at the moment, offering new members  a voucher for their first night on site. This is despite, I believe, a record numbers of new members joining the CAMC this year. Surely they should be  rewarding their current members ?

There are repeated complaints that insurance companies, internet providers etc. do not treat Loyalty like Royalty and perhaps the actual individual cost is not so great but I will not be renewing my membership until I intend to use a CAMC site or a CL again.

Well at least that way you'll get a voucher. Presumably you won't accept it as it's not fair to the existing members.smile

We didn’t get a voucher for re joining after a short break. Only time we have had one was for recommending a friend join. We used it at the most expensive Site We could find not too far away. We haven’t been back to that Site since😂

I belong to the Club because it meets my needs by what it has to offer. When that ceases to be the case I will give up my membership. I pay by Direct Debit each year so the first I know about my renewal is when the new membership cards arrive. Like JIll I am not sure what the OP has in mind. They mention a promotion to encourage new members which is just that a promotion which might otherwise be spent on advertising. Perhaps it is being suggested that all members get a site voucher? If that was the case it would cost the Club in the region of getting in for one and a half million pounds a year. As a non profit making organisation it would then have to recoup that money by putting up prices so it would become a vicious circle? Nothing to stop you, as you suggest, delaying renewal but that only saves you a few pounds and during that period of non membership you would not be able to book sites so it causes more problems than cures?

With Covid 19 around and if he wasn't a winter site user, he would probably save more than a few pounds.

Have you got any suggestions to put to the club on ways this could be done?

Why not a "one night voucher" but only valid until the 1st April 2021. It would probably generate additional income. A win/win as far as I can see.

The voucher has been issued since the beginning of the year as I received one + a couple of stickers.... wink

Agreed utilities & insurance companies don't discount you for loyalty but when your £1 per week membership fee saves you £12 per night on site fees I can't see your argument for no benefit/loyalty.....

As a member of a 'prestige' car club with similar fees I have been astounded by members of both clubs wanting extended memberships this year in what have been unprecedented circumstances, personally I'm happy to support them so they survive.....

I would much prefer CAMC to spend money (that'll be our money) on improving its admin efficiency and the IT systems rather than giving free nights or membership extensions which we members will ultimately have to pay for.

I can relate to the OP's point about being loyal

Quote "The caravan and Motorhome Club does not appear to value the Loyalty of Members."

At the beginning of this pandemic the club appealed to members to stay loyal and keep paying their membership to help them survive. Members have done this to help

Loyalty works both ways.
