Membership fees and request by Club to continue

Today I received an email as most likely all club members have regarding the Membership Fees and the request that we consider continuning membership.

I/we support that request and for the following reasons:

I/we have been members for a few years now, we have enjoyed the membership, the sites and facilities along with the website and whilst we haven't always agreed with some of the site policies we have continued our membership.

These are tough times for us all and on so many different levels and whilst I do understand that it is a question of prioritising where finances are concerned (same for us) we feel that the club has benefited us greatly over the term of our membership, we're kind of proud to be a part of it.

Businesses like individuals will be hard pressed in the months to come, the Club did not get to where it is now by shrinking from it's responsibilities, neither did it get there by complacency, it got there by virtue of it's management making good decisions, by taking action when it needed to and importantly because of it's loyal members, combine the two and you can see why it's a club to stay with and continue to stay with.

In short, for us personally we will continue to pay our membership/remain a member, we won't be asking for refunds, reductions or extensions , we feel that the best support we can give the club right now is to continue our subscription throughout this terrible situation we all find ourselves in.

Of course, how we proceed won't be everyones cup of tea but in some sense diversity can add cohesion. Please keep in mind that whilst our stance may not be yours, it is ours and we like you have the ability to choose which way we're going.

We hope to holiday later in the year by taking up our annual booking, but if we are unable to because we're still in quarantine, well we can't, nothing we can do about it, it's 'life' ....which right now seems more precious than ever.

Sadly we're all going to have to pay for this crisis, particularly in higher taxes.  I've just booked some sites for April to July 2021 and thought how expensive the club is getting. I expect the membership fees will rise at some point too.

I think the club should make some gesture. If sites are out of action for, say three months, perhaps everyone's membership should be extended by three months. I suppose the majority of us that have a caravan or MH are fortunate. I am extremely fortunate in that my business is largely unaffected but there could well be thousands of individuals and businesses that may go to the wall.  The Club could well see membership drop as a result as people sell their units to raise cash they need for everyday living and I'd like to think the Club won't take members for granted and think we'll pay the prices they want.  We may all need to reign our spending in and the Club should be no exception.

Further to my previous post I have just seen on Swift Talk that CCC will extend membership by the amount of time their sites are closed.  Come on CAMC - your turn.

Like others I am not to bothered about foregoing the lost time of membership. My personal view is If you don't use 12 months membership of anything then you can't be expected to ask for a refund, if it's offered then it's a welcome bonus. I know that I will always loose some of the memberships benefits over a year because I am probably at home more than I'm away. Last year I paid for ACSI membership and didn't use it once because of events.

However.

That is a very telling statement and the club need to heed the fact that we shouldn't be asked to bail them out.The club have been the first to respond to members being disgruntled on the topic as they were the first to respond by trying to keep the sites open when all this started and we all know what happened there. It will be interesting to see how they follow suit given that the C&CC have decided to extend.

I have just received an email from one of my insurance companies saying they are extending the term of my insurance by 3 months to compensate for lack of use. We didn't ask for that

Am I remembering correctly JVB, that as a 50 years plus member, you now have free membership?

In which case it is easy to say  ....and me  !

To a certain extent, I think all the jibing and nastyness to each other is unwarranted and we should all be acting iike grown ups and not like children.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we are supposed to be a democratic  country which practices "freedom of speech".

That said, this is not just a case of supporting the C&MC, there are other considerations, eg. can people afford to take a loss, will some of us still be here when all this is over and, if we are, will we still be able to afford to use our vans and motorhomes. We are not all in the financial position that some of our "members" seem to be in.  This is supposed to be a Club run by its "members" but it seems to be that its members are being ignored.

I, too, believe that the Club should extend membership for the period of time members in the club are unable to use their vans/motorhomes and the club facilities, ie the period of lockdown.

If its a question of club employees pay, then the Government has offered options for businesses to claim.  I do not believe that the Club is in a bad financial position at the moment, but I do think that - like most of the other organisations in similar situations - members in the Club should receive an extension to their subscription period,  particularly those who have paid their subscription already. It could be 6 months or more before the lockdown is finished for some of us. I cannot see many members whose subscriptions are due paying their subscriptions in this situation, so the rest of us are to be penalised.

Yes, those running the club have been voted in at some time or other, but they are supposed to be looking after the interests of  ALL those paying their wages and the overall effect this will have on the club in the long term.

I can honestly say that the club will, in my opinion, loose members over this and I have no doubt that when this is over,  the Club will put up site fees immediately to help replenish the coffers.
