Membership fees and request by Club to continue

Today I received an email as most likely all club members have regarding the Membership Fees and the request that we consider continuning membership.

I/we support that request and for the following reasons:

I/we have been members for a few years now, we have enjoyed the membership, the sites and facilities along with the website and whilst we haven't always agreed with some of the site policies we have continued our membership.

These are tough times for us all and on so many different levels and whilst I do understand that it is a question of prioritising where finances are concerned (same for us) we feel that the club has benefited us greatly over the term of our membership, we're kind of proud to be a part of it.

Businesses like individuals will be hard pressed in the months to come, the Club did not get to where it is now by shrinking from it's responsibilities, neither did it get there by complacency, it got there by virtue of it's management making good decisions, by taking action when it needed to and importantly because of it's loyal members, combine the two and you can see why it's a club to stay with and continue to stay with.

In short, for us personally we will continue to pay our membership/remain a member, we won't be asking for refunds, reductions or extensions , we feel that the best support we can give the club right now is to continue our subscription throughout this terrible situation we all find ourselves in.

Of course, how we proceed won't be everyones cup of tea but in some sense diversity can add cohesion. Please keep in mind that whilst our stance may not be yours, it is ours and we like you have the ability to choose which way we're going.

We hope to holiday later in the year by taking up our annual booking, but if we are unable to because we're still in quarantine, well we can't, nothing we can do about it, it's 'life' ....which right now seems more precious than ever.

"To a certain extent, I think all the jibing and nastyness to each other is unwarranted and we should all be acting iike grown ups and not like children. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we are supposed to be a democratic country which practices "freedom of speech"."

Ten posts and I see no jibing or nastiness, RJ312. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The 'freedom of speech' you refer to does not apply here as we all agree to use CT within the bounds of the T&Cs.

We each need to decide for ourselves whether we continue as paying members of the club and there will be many factors and personal circumstances determining that quite apart from Nick Lomas’ plea.

As I said in the other thread, if one is experiencing hardship then try and get your money back or do not re-join if your re-newal falls during this time, I think that is obvious.

If one feels aggrieved at no extension, as it should be remembered it is not just the club that is going down this route, then  perhaps an obvious choice is write to the club and/or not re-join. We are often told there is better out there anyway.

As TW says everyone should make their own mind up based on their particular circumstances and I agree.

Personally I'm willing to support the club and as I want it to be there when all this is over. and the club can use this proportion of my membership when I can't use sites to help to pay for the overheads which it still has to pay with lost income from the sites, which I think I showed is very considerable. I'm really not bothered at all about  £13.50 and there are worse things to worry about.

But each must make the choice for themselves.

I can honestly say that the club will, in my opinion, loose members over this and I have no doubt that when this is over, the Club will put up site fees immediately to help replenish the coffers

They may well put up site prices further,  but have made an offer to try and bring in funds in advance of folk staying on site. ( just received an email newsletter) If you have the funds it's seems a fairly decent offer, £120 of site vouchers for £100 and multiples thereof. The vouchers have no expiry.
