Membership fees and request by Club to continue

Today I received an email as most likely all club members have regarding the Membership Fees and the request that we consider continuning membership.

I/we support that request and for the following reasons:

I/we have been members for a few years now, we have enjoyed the membership, the sites and facilities along with the website and whilst we haven't always agreed with some of the site policies we have continued our membership.

These are tough times for us all and on so many different levels and whilst I do understand that it is a question of prioritising where finances are concerned (same for us) we feel that the club has benefited us greatly over the term of our membership, we're kind of proud to be a part of it.

Businesses like individuals will be hard pressed in the months to come, the Club did not get to where it is now by shrinking from it's responsibilities, neither did it get there by complacency, it got there by virtue of it's management making good decisions, by taking action when it needed to and importantly because of it's loyal members, combine the two and you can see why it's a club to stay with and continue to stay with.

In short, for us personally we will continue to pay our membership/remain a member, we won't be asking for refunds, reductions or extensions , we feel that the best support we can give the club right now is to continue our subscription throughout this terrible situation we all find ourselves in.

Of course, how we proceed won't be everyones cup of tea but in some sense diversity can add cohesion. Please keep in mind that whilst our stance may not be yours, it is ours and we like you have the ability to choose which way we're going.

We hope to holiday later in the year by taking up our annual booking, but if we are unable to because we're still in quarantine, well we can't, nothing we can do about it, it's 'life' ....which right now seems more precious than ever.

Well it just goes to show, I started reading the remaing 11.5 pages today and it appears I posted on this thread a week ago. Memory not what it was. Any way, a good thread apart from the silly political bit at the end. Our membership fee is not due until December so we have plenty of time to think about paying/not paying it. I suppose I could belly ache about having paid in advance for the 2020 year, but I think that would be petty. We really just want to keep our membership going to use CL's and although we think the annual fee is rising too fast, will pay it because it is still good value (about £1 per week) if you like CL's. What the club will do next year to recover the lost revenue is going to be a lot more interesting, and the management really will have to be carefull about announcing site price increases and membership fee increases.

I think it would be wise for the club to make some financial information available to the membership, whilst avoiding throwing the baby out with the bath water.

My decision time is July. Theoretically normal service should have been resumed by then but somehow I doubt it.

Ours is due in May, and after 21 years continued membership the club appears to have 'lost it's way' in our opinion so we very much think that the time has come to call it a day.

We can re-join next year when this is all over if we wish, being a long time member in this day and age has NO benefits, there is no pensioner discounts or reduction in fees so as to compensate for the time lost in not being able to use the network.

If  the lockdown does not get lifted at the end of June, then it might carry on thru August and into September.

Stay at home, stay save.

Sadly we're all going to have to pay for this crisis, particularly in higher taxes.  I've just booked some sites for April to July 2021 and thought how expensive the club is getting. I expect the membership fees will rise at some point too.

I think the club should make some gesture. If sites are out of action for, say three months, perhaps everyone's membership should be extended by three months. I suppose the majority of us that have a caravan or MH are fortunate. I am extremely fortunate in that my business is largely unaffected but there could well be thousands of individuals and businesses that may go to the wall.  The Club could well see membership drop as a result as people sell their units to raise cash they need for everyday living and I'd like to think the Club won't take members for granted and think we'll pay the prices they want.  We may all need to reign our spending in and the Club should be no exception.

I absolutely support that the club should extend the membership by the amount of time the sites are shut.  This is supposed to be a members club so the members should be consulted and listened to AND NOT BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED.We are members to enrich the caravan experience not all the other bits like the club magazine which is 75% advertising,  Insurance which is not run by the club I can go on but you see my point.  Not every is fortunate to be able to have new cars and vans but have to choose carefully on a budget.  Come on Nick Lomas don't try to be one of the crowd listen to the members.

I agree that the club has not been coming forward with discounts,  every time I see them they are for sites that no  one wants to go to.  What about the popular sites like Burrs park in Bury where no discounts are given but instead the fees are extremely high and are now comparable with the large commercial sites.  No matter how immaculate the sites are most are basic sites.  The club even recommends the basic price a certified site should charge.  The management of the club should come out of the comfort bubble into the real world.

What about the discounted site vouchers?

What sites don’t people want to go to? It’s personal likes and preferences surely. I’ve no desire to go to Burrs no matter how big a discount might or might not be offered.

(Sorry, MM.)
