A simple question. As the caravan club no longer offer caravan insurance as such what suggestions for a new insurer that does.

Another thought is what is the position with third party claims? Is that also discretionary?

Taking all the above into consideration and the points raised by Easy T as we are within the first 14 days we have decided to cancel the Caravan Cover and go with Towergate who have a track record in caravan insurance.  They were slightly more than the CMC, but at least we now have peace of mind and can sleep easy.  laughing

TBH I think others may have a rethink about CMC Caravan Cover which seems on the face of it very inadequate.

The point was raised some 10 months ago but probably only on this forum rather than the one used by your alter ego laughing

I also think we are in agreement but there seem to be some confusion between the finance and insurance governing bodies.  Very, very briefly:

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is an independent financial regulator dealing broadly with financial irregularities in all markets.

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) settles individual disputes between consumers and businesses that provide financial services, such as banking and insurance.

In any event in my opinion anyone who enters into a Caravan Cover agreement with CC Ltd is being rather foolish and taking an unnecessary risk with the insurance of their pride and joy, and money.

Thanks DD. I was aware but others may have been confused and indeed I might have added to that wink

We have had a similar discussion on caravantalk where Surfer is also a member under a different user name

Have I missed something?  I thought the "cover" did not extend to third party claims.

Incidentally ET a good thread for the w/e, but I do wonder how long it will last after 0800 hrs Monday wink.

Liability cover – up to £5,000,000 caravan liability cover is automatically included
helping protect you against claims made against you.

Very important when your caravan runs away on site and kills somebody!

In case Surfer does not return to this tread he said that the reason towergate was dearer was due to Insurance Tax of 12%

The benefit is saving the 12% insurance tax. In my case a saving of about £32 which I would rather pay!
