Superfuous service

Superfluous?? I think that is what was meant!

Well not really, most vehicle manufacturer's servicing intervals stipulate 'x' mileage or 'x' months, whichever is the sooner. Even when not used components can deteriorate, sometimes even more so with inactivity.

As above It will still be needed to keep up the warranty if you need that, and you could say the same about car servicing and perhaps MOTs at the present time?

My 2009 caravan has just been serviced at my home by the excellent mobile engineer I have used for many years.  Horrors, he discovered a little damp which he will reseal when the temp rises.  Glad I didn't leave it for a further 12 months.  

Without a service record/warranty,  one of the worst buys would be an older motor caravan advertised as low milage
