HI everyone,
Am new to this so please bear with me. We recently bought a citroen relay minibus that we are going to get converted (by others) to a motor home. Anyone have any ideas where we could source lightweight units for the cabinets etc? Or indeed any other internal equipment? We visited the NEC last year and got a few details of equipment suppliers, just wondered if anyone has any personal experience?

Hey!
My first van was a SWB Relay that I converted in to a Campervan. I bought a flat pack side kitchen kit from evomotive design that was design to fit a VW, but with a bit of trimming made it fit. I’m pretty sure they do a wide variety of cabinet styles now. It’s always worth looking on Instagram as there are plenty of self build campervans on there that’ll give you some great inspiration!

I suggest the OP joins a good self building forum such as www.motorhomebuilder.com where they will find lots of helpful self build idiots such as myself who get an absolute buzz from helping those others that have decided to take the AMAZING plunge!
I built my 'Millie' which is a LWB Renault Master panel van conversion some 5 years ago and it was the most absorbing and utterly captivating diy project I have ever undertaken.
The singularly most important aspect of any build is the planning and design, get it right and your build will be easy, get it wrong and it will be like hell warmed up.
Although there are a lot of converted mini buses, they do present one very big problem and that is a singular lack of insulation, although, yet again with planning a lot of those problems can be overcome.
Personally I would never go out and buy ready made components or fittings from any of those businesses offering that kind of service because of cost and quality (or rather lack of).

Your choice of that posting on the forum will do exactly what the OP doesn't want to know because Squirrels efforts are about as extreme as they get and he has met immense problems throughout his build.
The van or rather mini bus in question is a Sevel built van that has a fully galvanised body, so rust isn't going to be a problem, they are also, arguably the easiest vans to convert, unlike the massive project that Squirrel has undertaken
