Overheat red fail

I don't have an ALDE system but it took me all of about 30 seconds to google 'ALDE overheat red fail' and find this on page 11 of the returned Operating Instructions....

"Overheat or red blue fail: Bleed the system of air. Check the fluid level in the expansion tank. It should be 1 cm above Min mark when cool. Check the circulation pump is responding. Wait 15 mins for the ffluid to cool down."

im sure that I (and others) don't mind helping strugglers, but surely try a few bits of basic research first....?

this isnt a rant at the OP but over and over we get requests to help with  'problems' where the aswer is inevitibly a Google search away.....

Knowing the speed of this forum, it was probably quicker to get the Googled answer than to post the question on CT

I had this, amber to, go to the service page error log on the screen for more info. With me it was air in the system, once cleared all was well.     here 

Oh, also had condensation once in the display screen unit. Just prise off and place the unit in a warm place to dry out. 

Sometimes these error codes can be quite useless. If you leave the duct flaps closed on our blown air system the heating won’t work but you would be hard pressed to work it out from the control panel display. Even the dealer struggled with that one when we first picked the Motorhome up and he gave us a demo.

Thanks for the info Boleroboy but Google doesn't have the answer if you do all the things and the alert is still there. 

I would be interested to know what the basic problem is, even though the van is booked in for repair.

Did you actually read what BB said or the manual? Just in case the relevant section is below.

Overheat red fail: Overheat protection (red cable) tripped. This fault can arise if the boiler is run at high power at the
same time as there are air pockets in the heating system, the heating system should then be bled properly.
If the fault remains, contact a dealer. Also check that the fluid level in the expansion tank is at least 1 cm above the
min line when cool.

Same here; had "Overheat Red Fail" when I got to Strathclyde in the summer. Panicked and rang four local caravan mechanics advertising in the information room and on a huge banner outside the entrance and, to cut long story short, got no help whatsoever. Hopeless.

In desperation, I did a Google search on "Overheat Red Fail" and straight away found the You Tube video referred to by Apperley, and this solved the problem in five minutes.

Not had an issue with this warning since.

Ring Alde customer service, l did they talked me through removing the heater cable on top of the boiler for 30 seconds then reconnect cleared the fault. The customer service will help or advise where to take it if needed

I’ve had this happen twice both times when I have been fiddling with 12v system and not switching off the Alde system.  The official way of fixing is to unplug the power to the boiler.  I our case the boiler and plug are fairly in accessible so first time I fixed it by Removing the battery lead for 10 seconds.    I decided that this was too much like hard work so the second time I simply pulled the fuse that feeds the boiler.   Both methods worked and less fiddly than pulling the connector block on the boiler.  

Just to add in both occasions we were off ehu so I suggest that you flick the mains switch in your van. 

Thanks to everyone who didn't say just read manual as any fool can do that. The people who steered me in the right direction must have a few more brain cells. I fiddled with the wiring under the cover on the boiler, but as I would have to unscrew a panel beneath the seat on my Elddis, I couldn't get to the connectors. At that time the mains and battery were still connected, but as I didn't disconnect anything, I assumed it would be okay. My conclusion is that it is probably a bad connection between the wires and the spade connectors. I checked a few days later and the heating was working and no warning signal.
