Reversing camera conversion.

Many MHs have no view through the rear window at all due to the positioning of bulkheads. Your outside mirrors are the best method of gaining rear view vision.

Whether your reversing camera feed can be altered depends how it is currently wired and needs more detail. Did I not recommend ASOF to you? That's the place to find someone who knows about AutoSleepers.

It must be, as ours can either be switched to come on when reverse gear is selected, or permanently. However, I prefer to just use it permanently on site, where it lets you see any children on bikes tucked in behind. On the open road I prefer to use the outside mirrors.

I have a Vision Plus camera on my motorhome that gives a permanent rearward view whilst driving. I think Bailey always fit a wired connection. It automatically gives a different view when in reverse, which I find handy at not running over Margaret when she is guiding me onto a pitch I am about to fit a bike rack and I am concerned that it might obscure the rear view. Other than reversing don't particularly use it as a driving aid but sometimes at junctions and roundabouts it's handy to see who is tucked up right behind to.

Just bear in mind that a reversing camera usually has a wide angle lens - typically 120 degrees, whereas a rear-view camera needs to be about 60 degrees, otherwise you get a very distorted view.

I’m with David - mirrors are great for 95% of the time but sometimes I just need to know if anything or anyone has snuck in behind me.

My rear view camera, although on permanently, is too wide angled to be of much practical use on the road, as DK says.

Our AS Warwick, circa 2019, came with a rear view camera as standard and I use it all the time - as a substitute for a rear view mirror.It came with a remote and you just hold the red button down with the engine running until the screen comes on and it stays on for the duration of your journey.I also habitually  drive making full use of the door mirrors-I learned to drive in my late Dad's work - van which had no rear through view.The camera  does come on when reversing as intended, of course.From an earlier comment am I correct in assuming that you have an AS MH?Experiment, as I did,until it works.

I think RH's AS van was before the model with the rear view camera such as yours, Ken. Our 2017 Warwick utilised the Avtex Tourer sat nav screen for the camera view so obviously could only be used in reverse - and it was a rubbish camera.

Our 2020 Fiat Warwick has an inbuilt reversing camera and screen as part of the base vehicle and it utilises the Fiat sat nav and multi function screen so, again, no use as a full time camera display.
