12 volt vacuum cleaners are normally pretty ineffective. Though some are costly, I reckon you'd be better off with one of the cordless Dysons or Gtec cleaners.

I have a lot of Makita cordless tools and even have drill in van for steadies, so son for my birthday got me a bare ( without battery ) Makita cordless vacuum and use the same batteries that's in the van. It's good enough for us but we don't have pets to say it's any good for hairs.

We have a Dyson Animal, it operates at a higher voltage but we do have a 12volt charger for it. Using it daily in our caravan, a charge lasts several weeks, and it is very effective in removing our dog's hairs from the carpets. We bought it from the Dyson refurbish centre at a considerable discount off the new price.

We have a very good brush and pan which gets used maybe once a week when we are away ... winkcool

Yep, got one of those 😉, at least once a day in my van. Works fine in the heparin floor but not so well on the carpet.

ditch the carpets?wink

we prefer our wooden floor, carpets just get dirty and are at home. so easy to brush out (or vacuum) a wooden floor.

did your question, re 12v, mean that you wanted to be able to use it off grid?

if so go with the cordless, and 12v charger as suggested earlier.
