We have been searching for a compact portable gas BBQ to take with us when touring in our caravan, we do have an integral gas point. We spotted a photograph on Page 14 of the June issue of the Club Magazine which appeared to be just what we had been searching for. Can anyone help us in identifying the make and model and from where it might be obtained?

Cadac sell a small table top gas BBQ called a Safari Chef 2 and Campingaz sell various table top models called Party Grill.

So long as you're not off grid then I'd recommend a Teppanyaki instead. They could really well, are much easier to clean and much cheaper to buy. We've not used our Cadac since buying one.

Hope this helps,

Andy.

The Teppanyaki looks just the job. Does it work off 12 volts though?

No! You need to be on mains hook up to use one!

Fine if you always go to sites with EHU but useless if you fancy off grid.

I have a small gas tabletop barbecue bought about 15 years ago that I use both at home and when caravanning. It uses lava rock between the gas burner and the food grid. These are still available for less than £25.  It is fitted with a stand alone gas regulator so can be used anywhere in garden or camp-site.  Helps to justify carrying the "spare" Calor cylinder.
