Insurance.......interesting?

We renewed the insurance on our Jeep last week. Got a good renewal quote, but as you should, decided to phone up and see if we could get any better. We had a couple of changes to give them, namely my changing from housewife to retired, but also the fact that we had now got a tow ball on new Jeep. After a discussion, we got a bit off for change of my status, but they gave us another £50 off (yes, OFF)😁 because we had a tow ball fitted. Apparently it’s because it lessens the possible damage to our car if we are in a rear end shunt!😱 We had never come across this before, and rather happy to have it work in our favour. Not sure on removable/retractable tow balls though.......

No idea how they came to that conclusion as a rear end shunt will still damage the back of the car ... just further back where it can't be seen. But don't knock the £50 discount

May I ask what new jeep you have got. smile

You may😁 It’s a Wrangler Unlimited, in a rather fabulous colour called Copperhead. Not many about in this country, we dropped on it at our local Jeep dealers. Special order, chap who had it before us lived in Wales, but came to this dealer to get another one. We were more than happy to pick up his only just second hand one! I can’t post an actual photo of ours, as sizing is wrong but hopefully I can post one from web that looks the same!

Our tow bar is extended to fit out a good nine inch or so, it clears the rear door mounted spare wheel and allows us to use Thule bike rack. So it’s a hefty lump of iron if anything gets too close.

May I ask what insurance company you use, as like you I've never come across this before.

LV TG, we find them very competitive. The renewal quotes are never in the stupid zone, but we still do the haggle bit and usually get something off every time. We have never made a claim while using them, but have no reason to think they would be any worse than most firms to deal with. We do tend to take such comments with a touch of “yeah, ok, whatever you say” but this one did surprise us. You normally expect them to up the premium rather than lower it, so we were very pleased.😁

Not sure I'd want to hose out the inside surprised https://www.jeep.co.uk/wrangler-unlimited/interior

Has to be done properly, and with care, but a whole lot better than leaving mud to go rock hard and start to eat into metal. All carpets come out, and drain holes are already there. We used to hose out back of our LRs occasionally as well. Proper ones, used on farms, not for fetching children from school..........🤣

And I thought that was the new footwell cooling system. yell You could also put those little fish in and get all the dead skin off after a long day. smile
