Hello everyone.

Does anyone tow a Series 4 Bailey Unicorn Cabrera with a Range Rover Evoque?

Just interested in your views & experience if you do.

Yes I do know it's over the 85% rule but I'm curious nonetheless.

Thank You.

To be honest, i haven't seen many Evoques towing anything. undecided

Maybe you haven't, but they certainly will tow, they're are a LR.

We had an Evoque for 4 years, towed our Swift 480 effortlessly. And a very stylish, easy to drive car all round.

Not sure about tugging the Unicorn though 🤔

The Evoque sits on a modified Freelander2 platform which in turn is used for the Disco Sport so its towing abilities are similar. Use the Tow Car web site to check weights (the club matching service is rubbish) and look at the details on the V5. The ‘rule’ that matters in respect of towing weights is compliance with the law - there is no reference in law to towing weight ratio.

We seen lots of Evoques being towed, mainly by breakdown trucks and transporters. They give a whole new meaning to the term “off road”. Sorry Pliers, you seem to have got a good one!😁

We left the LR brand years ago. They are not the vehicles they once were. Happy to have an old one though. Friends of ours have stuck loyally with LR, but their last FL2 had an awful lot of time in and out of dealers. They purchased extended warranty just for peace of mind.

A personal view, admittedly.

Unfortunately my experience isn’t good with LR products and my stepsons is mixed. My FL2 was problematic compounded by indifferent dealers in the UK and abroad so I went back to VAG products. My stepson has had a number of Range Rovers (Vogue, Sport and 2 Evoques) in his family. Neither Evoque has been great and one so bad he refused to sell me his partners Evoque Overfinch (which was fantastic to drive), unfortunately it had a monthly pass to the local dealers to see how quickly it could empty his wallet. The Beemer X2 replacement is 100% reliable.....

As a match I would not choose it, for reliability I would not choose it.

Products from Hyundai/Kia are significantly more reliable, and BMW and VAG products both ahead in my opinion.

Driving and finish they are very good but I value reliability above all other.

All these Landrover and Rangerover knockers I wonder if there is a tinge of jealousy? I am on my 6th Discovery, all have been totally reliable and only one had a non standard repair bill needing two suspension dampers after 5 years of heavy work. There are few cars  which can come anywhere near them for towing ability. Just look at how many years the Discovery has won the Tow Car of the Year top place. The Discovery Sport has slightly better towing limits and much more room so I would prefer it over the Evoque. You see plenty posters on this site asking for solutions to towing issues from other brands (even large SUVs) but Landrover/RR are just made to tow. Once you have had one you will be reluctant to consider any other tow car.

Not jealous at all. As I said we have owned a total of six LR cars, including Range Rover, Defender, Discovery. All bar one were superb for what we needed them for, towing horse boxes and caravans, off roading, camping holidays. Our dismay set in with a Freelander, the important bits spent most of its time with us on the garage floor, leaving us with a quite nicely designed car but only two wheel drive. It’s was shockingly unreliable, never away from dealer. We actually traded it on one of its good days for a Jeep Patriot, which was a stunning car. That’s where our love affair with LR ended in divorce. They are not built like they used to be. We realised we could get so much more for our money, and better reliability.

Edit: I can’t post a photo of our new car, but I think you would like it. Copperhead Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, very niche, but a real off road vehicle. 😁
