Hello

We're getting our first caravan in a couple of weeks and need to get mirrors so wondered if anyone tows with a BMW X4 that could recommend which ones to go for.

Thanks

Helen

I use Milenco Aero 3 mirrors but I have found that they have cracked the black bezel around the mirror assembly, not that it's noticeable when the Milenco mirror is removed unless you take a very close look, but if you are very particular it could be annoying.

As Lutz says, mirrors that clamp onto the frame will crack that frame. There are two options. You can have the inside of the frame packed with a gung which sets rock hard or you can go for car specific mirrors. You can go for BMW mirrors or identical ones made by (I think, EMUK), which are the ones we got for our 2016 X3. They are expensive (about &120) but superb. They clamp around the frame of the mirror and are rock steady and don’t need adjusting every time you fit them.

We changed our 2016 X3 for the new version a couple of months ago and I didn’t want to have to buy new ones so I took mine to the dealers. They fit the new X3 perfectly and also the X5 so that model may fit your X4. Easiest is to just get BMW ones. They sound expensive but as a percentage of the car’s cost aren’t.

I can take a picture of the if it will help.

Hi, I tow with a BMW X4 also and the same thing has happened to me and I’m not happy, 😬 so now looking for new towing mirrors, I’m thinking of going with the BMW type or the other you mentioned EMUK? I have put some super glue on the split to try and stop it getting worse fingers crossed! 🤞

Well if it's BMW mirrors that's cracking I think they must be made using cheap plastic or your over tightening the clamps. Never had any problem with mine fitted to a jeep GC.

Agree with you. I've used the same Milenco mirrors on an Omega, a R Class & a ML Merc & no cracks on any. 👍

Agreed, I know several people who use Aero 3's with no problem, you do have to be a little careful not to over tighten them. Sounds like very poor BMW build to me.

Now having just taken delivery of a new BMW X3.

I have found my Milenco Aero 3 wing mirrors don’t fit. There is not enough gap between the mirror glass and the plastic bezel. It’s not a cheap plastic problem as others suggest, who may not even have this car, IMO it’s the design of the bezel. I expect when able to look around again,I will end up with the rubber type with plastic hooks on the ends.
Would be grateful from owners what the use

GRT

I changed from an F25 to the G01 3months ago.

The milenco mirrors  that I got to fit the F25 with the modified clips I find are too tight to fit the G01

I looked at the mirrors available and you are limited to very expensive mirrors , to ensure you don’t cracked the plastic.

I do have a set of the stick on the glass mirrors but don’t like them either.

I have a set of the rubber band type but find too much vibration.

Hi Galaxy

It’s certainly a shame that Milenco don’t make a fitting that does the job for X3 owners.  Like you, I have dumped several rubbish other brands over the years. Will Just have to keep looking
