I use Milenco Aero 3 mirrors but I have found that they have cracked the black bezel around the mirror assembly, not that it's noticeable when the Milenco mirror is removed unless you take a very close look, but if you are very particular it could be annoying.

As Lutz says, mirrors that clamp onto the frame will crack that frame. There are two options. You can have the inside of the frame packed with a gung which sets rock hard or you can go for car specific mirrors. You can go for BMW mirrors or identical ones made by (I think, EMUK), which are the ones we got for our 2016 X3. They are expensive (about &120) but superb. They clamp around the frame of the mirror and are rock steady and don’t need adjusting every time you fit them.
We changed our 2016 X3 for the new version a couple of months ago and I didn’t want to have to buy new ones so I took mine to the dealers. They fit the new X3 perfectly and also the X5 so that model may fit your X4. Easiest is to just get BMW ones. They sound expensive but as a percentage of the car’s cost aren’t.
I can take a picture of the if it will help.

Hi, I tow with a BMW X4 also and the same thing has happened to me and I’m not happy, 😬 so now looking for new towing mirrors, I’m thinking of going with the BMW type or the other you mentioned EMUK? I have put some super glue on the split to try and stop it getting worse fingers crossed! 🤞
