Green Flag/Mayday have some trained staff but contract  out most calls to local garages and you get whoever turns up. - that's well known isn't it?  

AA and RAC deal with most calls with their own trained technicians,and that's well known too, isn't it ?

Aren't ALL points electrical? It's just that some carry differing amounts of 'electrical' depending on the amount of electrickery used on the engine .... it's been a while since I've been inside a dizzy. Being fair to the lads that turned up to help you, they were still in primary school at best when your motorhome was built ..... when was the last time you looked under the bonnet & found a dizzy, let alone points inside. 

PS the lead from the coil to the dizzy is called the King Lead 😉

I had a flat battery at home a couple of days ago, so called Mayday. They had a technician to me in about an hour who started the car, very smart young man. He checked the electrical system and battery, told me my 2011 battery was knackered.  They don't make 'um like they used to. Anyway I was quite impressed. 

my daughter, whose car is on as an extra car, had the same experience during the beast from the east. MInd you she hadn't moved it for about a week. Still they came out to a snowy street in Newcastle in under 40 minutes.

I'll always be able to sort a flat battery on my own drive ..... a decent set of jump leads & a choice of cars to jump from. 👌

I agree but when you neither have jump-leads or another car and no starting handle one needs some help. 

 ..... a starting handle? What's one of them .... ? 🙄😉

It's an antiquated instrument of torture for skinning knuckles.
