CL owners

We love CLs!  We use them a lot and we enjoy the peace and quiet that they have to offer.  Recently we’ve noticed a trend for people to leave reviews complaining about the owners.  For example, someone put that they were disappointed as there wasn’t a reception!  Someone else said that after a ten hour drive they arrived tired and hungry and no one was there to greet them.  People complain that the owners aren’t around and aren’t friendly.  For goodness sake, what do some folk expect?  The owners aren’t there to become instant best friends with everyone who turns up!  Provided a site is clean and tidy and someone is available should there be a problem, surely that’s enough!

Hope you can visit us at some time, we have a loyal band of locals who stay with us on a regular basis. Last week we had a motor home from Lanner!

Wow, a long distance trip!

Before we moved closer, we used to stay at Porthtowan Tourist Park a lot and got to know the area well.

We arrived on one site just in front of another member. The owner wan't around but there was a notice board there stating which pitch had been allocated. No problems. the other member started to complain that they wanted someone at "reception" to advise them on where everything was etc. Yes, it was their first visit to a CL.

We told them where to go.innocent (You know, where the grey water went, where the water points were etc.but to be honest it wasn't rocket science).

Like Rocky said, we don't like "Hoverers" (nice word Rocky) but like a word if applicable, ok with us if not.

Yes, I like the word ‘hoverers’ too Rocky. CLs are owned by hard working people- farmers mainly I would say, but a plumber where we are at the moment and any other number of occupations. Receptions cost! Toilets cost! Showers cost! Give me the freedom to arrive on site, find a convenient spot and crack on- as already alluded too- it’s not rocket science. As long as the filthy lucre changes hands and the appreciation is shown by the caravan owner- they are doing us a favour- not the other way around- then all is peace and tranquility. I don’t care if I don’t see the CL owner,- but I will always find a way of paying them and thanking them for their efforts to allow me to park on their land and enjoy my caravan. Thanks to John at Newton Grove and people like him- without them I would be stumped!

Merve,
I am grateful for your efforts to help and share your Off-Grid knowledge with other members which may entice them to give it a try and “gain their freedom”.
I am sure there are other Off-Grid site owners that also appreciate your efforts. A big thank you from Newton Grove CL for a mention.

Thanks, peedee. Thought that I recognised the view. We stopped there just after it opened. It needed a bit more work when we were there, which I guess they will have done by now. Hope that you enjoy your stay there.
