Why are we always disappointed by CLs?

Over the years we have tried perhaps a dozen or so CLs, and have almost always found them disappointing.  The one where the chemical emptying point was "over there" (never found it); the one which charged £20 a night on account of having facilities - facilities that were in fact shared with an encampment of twice as many vans that were not on the CL and apparently used by workmen; the ones made uncomfortable by a number of other, often tatty, vans scattered around.  Where are we going wrong?

It’s nice to hear that someone new is using the lovely CL network, and enjoying the many different sorts of Sites at great prices. Good for you. If you have the time, you could do a few reviews and help encourage others new to touring to get the most out of them as well!๐Ÿ˜

Don't hesitate to ask for any recommendations if visiting a new area, although you seem to be doing fine as you are๐Ÿ‘

We have really loved our first season! Yes, I will review the sites ... think we owe it to others as we have used reviews quite a lot. I feel a bit like a kid in a sweet shop ... over 2,000 places to choose from and all for a very modest price.

Liz K great post, so glad you are enjoying exploring the CL network, every CL is unique.  Why not come and stay with us at Cherry Cottage CL in Dorset.

Please do take time to post reviews of the CLs you’ve stayed on as a lot of members visit CLs based on reviews.

That's a great post, Liz K. Glad that you've been able to find such good CLs that suit you. Hope that you've added to the sites' reviews. Care to share the names of a favourite or two?

Posted on 18/11/2019 22:40

All nine were really good ... favourites based on site (peace and location) rather than facilities ...

Tirmynach - Hay on Wye

Pentwyn - Bacton, Herefordshire

Lyndor near Ross on Wye

the above three have idyllic views

Bide Yer, Bridport - also views, smaller site, nice extras like individual water and hard standing, handy to get into town

Atkins CL - Minchinhampton, Gloucester.

Small site but fab location for walks and interest

We love CLs.  It's great that some people don't want to use them as it means we can always get a pitch.

Great that you love them, QFour. How about adding your favourite 3 to the"Top 3's" post  in this section?
