Contemplating Copenhagen

Wanting to head for Denmark in our motorhome next June (for about 4 / 5 weeks) we would like to see Copenhagen (I visited in the 1970s last – a long time ago). I have looked at the reviews of the motorhome aires nearby and they are not reassuring. Has anyone tried any of them? Or can anyone recommend a campsite allowing easy access to the city? I'd love to read your feedback.

Or shall I just book a cheap flight to the city and visit as a separate trip???? After all, we tour Germany in our motorhome but have flown to Berlin; spend aeons of time in France but travel to Paris on the Eurostar and have just returned home from our 5th visit to Amsterdam - courtesy of easyJet - even though we have camped in the Netherlands…. But it would be good to see Copenhagen during our motorhome tour if I could have confidence in a campsite  or an aire.

Have you thought of asking on Motorhome Fun?

I'm not a member of that Forum (is it still a subscription Forum?) .... had considered posting on Out and About Live, except that the long term residents there will turn the query into an argument about B****t, as usual. Have noticed that there are a number of Scandinavian experts on here so thought they might be able to help.

(A friend, whom I met in A/dam this week, did say that she and her family stayed on an aire there which was fine.. but the conversation, while having dinner in Café Americain, swiftly segued into ‘shall we order another bottle of wine’ and the subject was dropped… I must email her about it.)

Sorry, no experience of sites in Copenhagen, but definitely worth a visit by whatever means you choose. I’m sure that Denmark has good transport links, so visits by public transport from sites further afield or even from nearby Malmo in Sweden are practical? Copenhagen is quite a compact place, so won’t take you an eternity to cover the highlights. I’ve always fancied doing a Scandinavian trip exploring Jutland and places like Aarhus - hopefully I’ll happen sometime.

WTG, have a look in the stories section, there was a nice write up of a danish trip not long ago. smile

Thanks Brue. I'll have a look if you recommend it. (Normally I don't go there.... )

Just re-read it,  useful for Denmark in general but doesn't mention Copenhagen. We'd like to do a Denmark tour ourselves.

Yes, just found it. As you say, it doesn't mention Copenhagen, but does give some really useful info for motorhomers. And the posters write about places on my list of 'places to see'. Thanks.

Isn't there a campsite/s in the City or at least on the outskirts? https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/townlisting.asp?town=Copenhagen&county=Denmark

Ah, I hadn't looked at those reviews, just ones on the motorhome stop over websites. Thanks.

(TBH, don't know why I am fussing - yet - about next June as we are off to the USA at end of month, again, and Spain, again, in January and have to do some more UK trips to complete the rides on the Great Little Trains of Wales  in April / May..... ever planning... but it's good to plan... still half tempted to book easyJet from Bristol!)

Yes the Fun is a subs site but I am sure you will get sensible replies and the thread is very unlikely to degenerate into an argument.  I can ask for you if you like?
