Red pennant and corona virus

The whole insurance industry needs looking at as they are a law unto themselves. They are all charlatans and crooks and happily take your money but the minute you try and claim their default stance is to look for a reason not to pay out. The government need to sort them out, end of rant.

The removal of any protection with regard to coronavirus will apply to new policies, is understandable, is completely transparent and people can make their own decision as to whether to take up such insurance. 

My rant is about insurance in general and not about coronavirus virus

but the post does not mention whether it is new policies or exsisting policies that

quote their underwriters will not cover anything related to the corona virus unquote

I applied common sense in that if an insurance was to change such a term after the issue of a certificate then it would be easily challenged.  

Isn't it typical of the club over this situation we are in. They seem to have a stance of 'hold back' with information. Members are trying to find factual information because they are worried. Yes, they did post on the Overseas section but there has been no further info since the 15th and now we have a Red Pennant problem that has been brought to our attention by a member. They should be giving us news on that but they haven't.

but we were not to know that and there has been talk within the industry to classify Corona as an "act of God" and therfore not covered, so perhaps it would be best if we just hang fire for a little while rather than trying to be barrack room lawyers , i speak as an interested party as i have RP insurance and do have 2 ferry crossings paid for but not able to take  

I suggest that you do hang fire then. Talk within the industry does not change regulatory law. The virus was not previously a known event when quoting for an insurance ...... it is now

Anybody looking to take out insurance will be advised that new cover will exclude the current virus Harry. Presently they are not issuing new policies.

If you already have a Red Pennant policy, you can contact us to amend your policy, make a claim or renew your annual policy. 

Please be aware there will not be any cover for anything linked to Coronavirus for any new trips you may book, as this is now a known event. 

We will start selling Red Pennant again as soon as we can.

why is it that you seem to think yourself as the font of all knowledge, I believe I have told you before my OH has a long track record in the insurance industry so we are both well aware of how insurance companies will wriggle out of paying claims if at all possible,

Corona is having an unprecedented effect globally on the insurance industry and they will i am sure investigate every avenue to try to limit its liability. I know we are all entitled to have an opinion, but do you actually have RP insurance at this time
