Telephone call to car insurers (Saga) Green Card ordered for car and caravan should arrive in 7 - 10 days.

Full details taken for the caravan so not sure if its going to be a separate green card or combined one, time will tell.

It has however been issued for the duration of the car insurance which will cover both of our planned trips for this year smile all countries we are planning to visit are also listed.

Paperwork all ready and organised now for the off smile can't wait to be on the road once again.

When we asked about the Green Card a month ago that is what we were told, they wanted the dates of the ferry crossing.

However today they said as to the uncertainty of what is going to happen and when it will/maybe happen they have decided to issue the green card for the duration of the car insurance. smile

Received an email from our MH insurers yesterday. Stating no green card would be required, until possibly the 31st October. If we reach a deal before then still no green card required, according to the email. The only scenario that would require one is if we fail to take part in the elections and are ejected after the 22nd May. This would seem unlikely.

SteveL, I think I would rather be confidant that I have all bases covered with the insurance company and the overseas police rather than trust the gang in Westminster. As the Green Card is free from the insurance companies why not, its certainly the advice from mine.

It is still just about possible that we crash out before October, however I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We're going out at the end of May for 3 weeks so hopefully will be OK.

I have our EU flag at the ready!

I have already got my IDP, and today I received my Green Card from my insurers.    One thing I did learn is that, if you are towing, the towed unit has to have a separate Green Card.  For the car it is category A, and for the trailer (in our case caravan) it is Category F.   So, for my outfit, I have two Green Cards.  I would recommend that anyone applying for a Green Card should clearly tell their insurer that they will be towing, if in fact they are.

But until the UK actually leaves the EU you don't need any of those things.

True, but then again, if someone is going abroad from, say, the middle of May, returning at the end of July, it is entirely possible they'll be leaving the UK within the EU, and returning to the UK outside the EU.  Currently the UK can leave at any time before the 31st of October.
