Ability to chose hardstanding pitches on all sites

I want the club to look at giving members the option to chose hard standing or grass pitch on the sites where standard pitches can be either or.
This season I have experienced problems on a few popular sites whereby I’ve booked a standard pitch with awning only to turn up (at a reasonable time 2-3pm) to find there are only grass pitches left. With a 4.5 tonne Motorhome this makes me Cringe. With all the rain we’ve had grass pitches have been really soft and twice we’ve had to get off using mud runners.
I’ve also seen many other Motorhome sand larger caravans struggling to stop wheels sinking in or awning being like mud pools. There have been several reviews around on some of these sites were members have stated they’ve booked a std pitch with awning expecting hardstanding, as on sites that are all hardstanding, only to turn up to be told only grass left and these have been very wet and several not fit for purpose.
The sites that I experienced problems with and heard from other members that have major issues are, Tewkesbury, Hurn Lane, Seacroft, Hill Head and Gowerton. There are probably others.
I know some people like grass and that’s fine, but if that’s the case let them book them and let those of us who literally hate them cos they are not suitable for modern caravans or Motorhome chose hard standing.
I don’t even mind paying a bit more for hard standing but I do object to paying the same for a poor quality, inferior, soggy under sized grass pitch ( lots of these at Tewkesbury and Hurn Lane ) . It should be personal choice so give us that choice and I think you might find there’s a drop in bookings at these sites, perhaps that’s why you don’t put in in the information options.
Of course the best option would be to do away with soggy grass pitches and make them hard standing or at least increase the proportion of hard standing . So come on CAMC give us the option on all sites so that we’re all getting the same value for our money and not getting Stuck in the Mud which is we’re the club seems to be .

Hopefully booking a hardstanding  will shortly become an option, otherwise I fear when the CAMC bring in the rumoured deposits, they will have shot themselves  firmly in the foot. Currently we are on one of the other clubs sites, where although having to pay a deposit we were able to specify we wanted a HS pitch. If the CC don’t copy that aspect as well as the deposits, they will be loosing some of my yearly bookings, particularly in areas where both clubs are options.

yes it's been a topic that has been a major grumble for many of us. The only way round it is to book only sites that have all HS or book a service pitch which in most cases are on a HS  but there is one maybe two sites where SP are on grass.

The club is turning over (pun intended) more and more grass pitches to HS so it might get better..

We use many cc sites ,most years in all seasons ,and do not recognise much of your post in respect ,of the "many?" LVs having difficulty with getting on or off  grass pitches? this or any other year apart from Gowerton we have used all the sites that you claim have problems?without noting any one having  problemssurprised

For each two hardstands from grass pitches it normally means the loss of one pitch as normally the space needed is three grass pitches,,and if a popular site .will mean less availability on that siteundecided

What I dont really understand is that the site knows what vehicles are yet to arrive, because you put that on your booking form. So if there is a 4.5t m/home to arrive, booked in for today, why isnt a hard standing kept?  After all wardens have (as I understand it) some ability to direct members to particular pitches.

The site staff are probably too busy dealing with all the people that arrive 2, 3 or more hours before the stated arrival time

It'll be the 'system'😁.

When the warden at Bladon Chains did exactly as you suggest in order to prevent pitches being churned up, there was an outcry from some caravanners because they perceived MHs to be given preferential treatment. Sometimes wardens and the club can’t win.

see also the other thread on this same subject to which I replied :-

So now would be a good time to cut through the murky system and organise properly graded pitch choices for club members. To cover requirements as listed above.

 Is anyone listening?
