I don’t think York is too bad at moment Nellie, it’s Sheffield and Hull areas getting all the rain. Has to be seen to be believed in places here, homes flooded, cars abandoned, etc..... and it’s still coming down hard. Our electric went off this morning, back on within a couple of hours, but there are a lot of roads impassable, and the rivers are very dangerous. Not sure if it’s still same, but anyone in Meadowhall Shopping Centre at teatime was told to stay there until Police gave all clear to leave. It’s bad, not yet at 2007 levels, but few hours to go yet. On the plus side......Jeep is fantastic for wading!😁

I wonder what the situation is at York then?

We are currently at York and getting heavy showers but the river was ok when we were out earlier.

York flooding is all about what’s happening way up stream in the feeder rivers for the Ouse, so hopefully you will be fine. 😁 It’s bad here in South York’s though, never seen as many Emergency Services out, blue lights everywhere.

Hope York stays dry for you👍

We have just arrived home from being evacuated, it all happened very quickly after dark when the wardens came round and asked everyone to pack up and leave on the advice of the environment agency. The site entrance road had water flowing over it and we had to go carefully along it. The surrounding roads were bad including the nearby Baslow which had quite a flood near the green across the main road.
just hoping everyone got home safely too

Glad you made it home safely djw147, similarly anyone else who was on site.

We were nearby in Darley Dale last night, the wrong side of the Derwent. We had to make a long detour to get back to the A6 which was deserted.

The whole of the Derwent Valley was on high alert last night (which incidentally reached new record highs in places).
