I would have thought there was an opportunity, for those willing to accept it, to park on some of the estate roads as some of them are much higher than the river and probably safe from flooding, even it it was only a temporary  measure so people could travel home in daylight?

York flooding is all about what’s happening way up stream in the feeder rivers for the Ouse, so hopefully you will be fine. 😁 It’s bad here in South York’s though, never seen as many Emergency Services out, blue lights everywhere.

Hope York stays dry for you👍

We left York this morning and noticed the river had risen around 18 inches overnight but still within the banks. There were lots of heavy showers as we headed north though.

Replying to nellythehookers question - the site was quite full, the warden said they had 8 spaces left for Friday night. Chatsworth is a busy site and the estate is get ready for it’s Christmas market which starts next Friday so I would think the site would be busy for that. We are lucky to be home safe and dry unlike many local people - so awful

There appears to be no official word from the CMHC, unless ive missed it so why hasnt a statement been made to say the site is closed?

Perhaps it's not. Showing 92 on availability for Saturday (most of them) and 67 Sunday. With river levels falling on the upper part of the Derwent  perhaps it was only closed Friday. I have not heard anywhere that the site itself was flooded, so there might not be any damage. Probably best to enquire if you were thinking of trying to book though.

I’ve just taken this from the Environment flood alert pages, I’m not sure where Chatsworth is exactly but I believe it’s not currently at risk👍🏻

Just looked at the agency flood warning for Baslow page.

It first showed Chatsworth site as being flooded but when I zoomed in then out it now shows as clear.

If in doubt, call the site.

It’s showing as Amber now, rather than Red. Rivers are going down. With a bit of luck, the site might have escaped actually being underwater.

We are a bit further North, and it’s an icy but beautiful morning here. Fog lying in the valleys, still lots of places under water, and some roads impassable. But I got into Sheffield ok this morning down Parkway. Thick fog though, just to add to the fun.
