Posted on 20/10/2021 10:44 by cyberyachtIt seems strange that they would close the site on a Friday, particularly as it coincides with bonfire night. Saturday 6th would have made more sense. Is the staffing issue as precarious as that?

Posted on 17/10/2021 14:08 by MaginnisIn fairness Gatwick and Littlehampton are usually closed for winter anyway, however, Alderstead Heath is usually open for Christmas, we've spent the last 12 years there (apart from 2020 obvs).
We're very disappointed and angry at the decision, they've offered Crystal Palace and Brighton as alternatives. We live in Brighton so that's pointless and we're not interested in central London.
I cannot believe that Brighton site has a greater demand than Alderstead Health.
I'm sure the CMC will offer some PR waffle but it's not acceptable. I've paid for 2 years subscription specifically to allow our Christmas plans to go ahead, they have ruined several plans and arrangements.
I'm well aware my rage and disappointment will make absolutely no difference to the situation but I intent express it directly to the Club so they are aware that members are unhappy. If we don't say anything they'll assume it's OK.

Littlehampton is usually open until around 4th Jan each year as we spent Christmas there in 2020, but had to exit on Boxing Day when Lockdown 3 started on 26th Dec 2020. It does seem that there is an increasing issue of sites closing due to staff shortage, so some assurances from the club as to how they plan to start to resolve this is needed.
Alderstead Heath is a local bolthole for us but the increasing resident travellers sometimes makes for a unsettling atmosphere, but the site is big to cater for everyone who wants to get away from it all.
