Hi guys

Anyone stayed at Raleghs Cross Caravan site on Exmoor? I am thinking of organising a group event incl. rooms and camping, and wonder if anyone has first-hand experience. I can't find any info on the usual review pages, nor did a search on here throw anything up.

TIA

Many thanks Tinwheeler. Most helpful. Every day a schoolday. I use ukcampsite which seems underused compared to these two.

Give my regards to the Delectable Duchy; I grew up in Liskeard.

You’re welcome. Google knows lots.

Liskeard, eh, We're not far from St Austell.

Is that caravan in your avatar a Safari? I can’t quite make out the car. A Riley, pethaps?

Close; a Royale, made by ex-Pearman & Briggs staff who reckoned they could make better vans. They did! But didn't stray too far from the classic Safari shape.

And yes,well spotted -a Riley 2½ saloon.

My father was a foreman with SNW on the build of the "new" wing of St. Austell Brewery in the 1960s.

Thanks for that, Alec. Royale, Safari and Cheltenham shared much. If I recall correctly, Royale was started by ex-directors of Safari and Cheltenham as a new business venture (although I may have mixed them up) and John Fudge was one of them. He eventually bought Music Water Touring Park at Rumford and later moved to Bodmin on his retirement.

The Riley 2.5! We had the 1.5 back in the 60s. I think the wooden frame rotted eventually.

Sellick, Nichols & Williams - I remember them. I think they were swallowed up by ECLP/ECC.
