Slight of Hand "Head Line" Pricing

We've recently returned from a Coast to Coast, Irish Sea to North Sea, trip; Blackpool to Scarborough.  Both of the sites were lightly populated but it was High Season, £28.70 and £30.30 respectively per night Standard Pitch two adults.  We thought this was excessive due to the Obvious lack of demand.

I downloaded the Prices Leaflet, a new introduction this year.  This made for Interesting reading.  Headline From prices for Pitch plus one, for example Borrowdale £10.10, we'll visit then; but that applies for One Day Only, 3rd Nov.  The next higher price is only £1.20 more, so why bother Fiddling one day cheaper?  There are 44 dates available at £11.30, shouldn't that be the Headline?

What's going on with this club of ours?  I've given just the one example, but more similar can be found.  I wonder what the Objective was in such pricing?  Some answers from the Hierarchy would be good.

Don't disagree with that JVB, I know how my sons on big salaries spend money, a bit like water in my older eyes.

and of course prices for 'pitching' or whatever it's called, a boat/yacht/ship has gone down?

I couldn't say, CS. I sold the yacht eight years ago. Then I was paying £10 for an alongside berth with water and a token EHU supply for a 31 footer. Equivalent in caravanning terms to a HS club pitch, I suppose.

But as mentioned to me and two other oldies by two much younger working age parents with young children when here last week ,we oldies are out of touch with today's salaries and costs of running a successful  leisure  company, and they both were quite comfortable with what they were paying for their holiday heresurprised

I expect it all depends where you live as to salaries. Our working age children, like us, live in the low wage capital of the UK. The article is a couple of years old now but still very relevant.

Screwfix are part of B&Q wink

But still offer lower prices.

I believe Toolstation  was started by the people who started  Screwfix and then sold it go B&Q.  Toolstation prices are usually a little lower than Screwfix, and you will often find their shops almost next door to each other.

One advantage with Toolstation is that they will deliver a £10 order free, with Screwfix it is £50.

But we digress.

I wonder if the Club has worked out yet what the new breed of "tourer explorer" IS like after all . . ?

Oh, I have no doubts they have it well covered Nav. It consists mainly of large modern outfits, hardstandings, water and waste close by unless actually connected, super sanitised toilet blocks and a regime of arrivals and departures that gives spontaneity a big kick in the wotsits, located in some lovely places to give the essence of “roughing it” at prices most seem perfectly happy to go with. On site excitement is provided by those occasional member deviants that fail to comply fully with all rules and guidance, and/or fall foul of the resident curtain twitcher! 😂

Its a business model that is flourishing, so don’t knock it. 😁
