There was a discussion on this subject started by royandsharont when Club Together first started, but the thread was "lost" when the forum was migrated.

Perhaps we can collectively re-create a list of sites within a short walk/bike ride or with easy public transport links to towns and places of interest.

Please keep your remarks brief so the list is easy to read.

Here goes ........................

Moderator Edit:

I've made this 'sticky' so it doesn't get lost down the thread.

This thread has just popped up this morning when I tried to re-access the site after it cut off for a while. As Brecon is mentioned on a site with access to public transport, I would would point out that when I was at Brecon last a couple of years ago, the bus driver would not allow me on with my 2 dogs.  Whether this is a rule of that particular driver or a rule of the company I don't know, but I have never had a problem in Wales before using the bus whilst with my dogs.

I replied when you posted two years ago and I don’t think the rules have changed. If it’s a Stagecoach bus service then one well behaved dog is admitted at the driver’s discretion.

Now you mention it yes.

Knew a thread existed but wouldn't  hazard a guess at finding it with this search facility

The secret to finding a thread on CT is to use Google (or your preferred search engine).  Just enter "Club Together" plus the string you wish to search for and you should find what your looking for.

Whilst I agree some threads are like that and Jim's advice to use Google is spot on. However this thread has been "Sticky" for some time so is relatively easy to find, you only have to go to UK Campsites and Touring and there it is, no need for a search facility in this case?

Thank you for that info - I must have missed it previously.  I don't use buses very often, perhaps once or twice a year and never usually notice who the operator is but will do so in future.

If only the site book could indicate sites where no car needed.  Or even mentioned in the site detail.  I find I have to trawl through the reviews manly from like, indeed motorhomers to find out what's near the site. I have suggested to the club they could bear this in mind when they write reviews in the magazine. Tired of reading what's nearby and no mention of how you get there without a car. Most motorhomers rely on getting about by walking safely, cycling on quiet roads or being able to get safely walking on a pavement to a bus stop.  We had a bad experience  at Durham which is only a few miles down the road and near park and ride. What they didn't say to walk to park and ride to catch the bus you have to cross a dual carriage way and even cross over the slip road from A1. Lethal.
