Why Does Easter last 18 days with CAMC?

Thought we might use a fairly local site to us around the 11th.April, the Sunday after Easter Sunday. Yet the club has decided to charge High Season rates. £31+ for 2 adults on a decent site but not a honeypot and in need of a bit of TLC.

Unfortunately there are very limited alternatives in the area so I'll have to change plans and go where there is an alternative but not where I wanted to be in the first place.

I do remember when rates only went up from the Thursday before Good Friday and went back down on the following Tuesday. Ah, those were the days.

Of course this is supposing sites will be open by then.smile

Busy sites, Bank holiday traffic, high prices = stay at home and relax till the week after for me

Ah but that's also one of the points. I too tend to wait for a week, except what I am moaning about, yes moaning, is that it is not the week after Easter, it's the week after the week.

Pretty soon it'll be a month either side.surprisedundecided

It doesn't help that schools, or academies, have differing holidays surrounding Easter. Newcastle and Sunderland schools are at odds again this year giving a three holiday window. If that is replicated around the country, and near to where you're going, it could be why the club has chosen to extend the peak periods?

Scottish schools always have a two week holiday starting April 1st, not dependent on Easter itself.

It may be the system that Herts CC have suggested ,but has come up against parent opposition,  where children from families attend different schools

Easter is a "moveable" feast which causes the constant moving of holidays in certain parts of the country where they try to include Easter. In Scotland they have Easter and they also have a holiday break depending on the dates, sometimes the two come together but not always.

CAMC is operating a catch all policy. wink

Not quite, our schools usually go back in mid August.

Having seen how busy it gets in late July and August in England, most likely they are fleeing the crowds, certainly we do!

Why would anyone book a holiday this easter anyway?
lets face it, if the caravan club took site fees up front they would have no money in the kitty as clearly these severe restrictions are going to be with us until at least May or June.

Yes the uk holiday industry has always hiked its prices to match school holidays, wether its here in a caravan or sitting on a beach on the Algarve. Forget easter holidays... it’s always bloody cold and wet anyway😂
