I was sorry to read just now of the passing of Derek Fowlds aged 82 years.  Great actor who played Sgt Oscar Blaketon then pub landlord in Heartbeat and also Bernard Woolley in Yes Minister.

And a favoured Guide & Guardian to one of my favourite Characters --  He was Mr Derek to a young Basil Brush back in the 70's

There are some kindly reminiscences about him, I liked to read the advice he gave to young actors. B Brush always springs to my mind too. Our son once did an interview with BB...it requires talent to survive those foxy responses. RIP Mr Fowlds.

I loved Yes Minister, comedy writing at its finest, and of course a superb cast, sadly now all gone. He was good in Heartbeat as well. I watched it through the Nick Berry and Jason Durr years, but gave up on it after that.
