I like his music, quite varied once you get away from the Spaghetti Westerns (which I love) He did the score for Zeffirelli’s Hamlet (the one with Mel Gibson) which is possibly my favourite. A good long life, and leaves music that will live on in his memory.

Sad news. He picked up the emotional story lines so well. One of my favourites was Cinema Paradiso and of course the lovely Gabriel's Oboe.

Cinema Paradiso is one of my “Desert Island” films. Also find The Mission well worth watching.
Not a Spaghetti Western fan but OH is, and additionally, Once Upon A Time in America is one of OH’s “Desert Island” films: consequently always an admirer of Morricone’s work.
His work with Brian de Palma in The Untouchables is memorable.
(I have the DVD of Hamlet somewhere, but despite the music I doubt I would ever wish to re-watch. Probably my least favourite Hamlet, ever. Not Morricone’s fault!)
